Lead Multi-modality TechnologistThe Lead Multi-modality Technologist position is responsible for performing imaging procedures in two or more modalities while providing leadership to a team of technologists. This position serves as a procedure specialist and leads a team of radiology technologists in two or more modalities.Any lead over two or more modalities – Required to be registered in those modalities as well.This position's location is on-site only.ResponsibilitiesLeadership:Provide team leadership to staff in the department.Act as a resource and first point of escalation resource to address the needs of staff, patients and families.Serve as a procedure specialist and subject matters expert on modality and its process and procedures.Acts as the day-to-day lead for operations of the department and assures efficient operation of workflow of the department.Responsible for maintaining the work schedule, workflow and staff schedules for the department.Participates in the hiring process, performance evaluation and handling of issues, and in problem solving for the team.Patient Care:Obtains patient history.Educates patients/families regarding procedures and/or treatment to be performed as well as risk factors and prevention.Positions patients appropriately for the applicable radiographic procedure.Performs radiographic procedures and analysis according to departmental guidelines.Develops and evaluates radiographic results for technical quality, such as density, contrast, definition and distortion.Applies learned methodologies with independent judgment according to established policies and procedures.Performs prescribed procedures in accordance with established policies.Maintains infection prevention standards.Explains standard procedures and answers patients questions.Prepares, cleans, adjusts, inspects and maintains equipment.Produces quality images and prepares/presents them with other pertinent patient information for timely interpretation.Prepares and maintains accurate documentation, archiving imaging data as needed or requiredCollaborates with physicians and other medical professionals.Modality Specific:CT: Operate head or body scanners to create a computer generated cross-sectional image of a patient's internal organs and tissues for diagnosis of medical issues.Mammography: Prepares patient and equipment for mammography procedure.MRI: Operates a magnetic resonance scanner to obtain images used for diagnosis and treatment of patient pathologies.Diagnostic/Xray: Performs radiographic procedures using both stationary and mobile radiographic equipment.Ultrasound: Performs sonographic examinations to locate, evaluate and record critical functional, pathological and anatomic data.Nuclear Medicine: Performs nuclear medicine procedures, demonstrating competence in performing invasive/interventional procedures.Quality:Adheres to regulatory and organizational standards affecting patient care and safety as well as all hospital and departmental policies and procedures.Performs and evaluates equipment quality control measurements, demonstrating ability to troubleshoot and notifying appropriate personnel to maintain equipment performance.Assures the efficient operation of workflow of the department and monitors and maintains an adequate inventory of supplies and materials to ensure non-interruption of service.Participates in required training for compliance related activities (HIPAA, Compliance, Patient Safety, TJC, other regulatory bodies.Participates and contributes to quality improvement processes and unit meetings/activities.Participates in compliance related activities (HIPAA, Compliance, Patient Safety, TJC, other regulatory bodies).Ensures that the examination results meet the facility standard for Quality Assurance before findings are released for interpretation.Provide oversight for the assessment of examinations performed within the facility for technical and image quality, and accuracy.Document any incidental findings that might impact patient safety or patient care and provide that information to the interpreting physician.Exercise responsibility for the maintenance and accuracy of facility reports, database records and logs.Education:Keeps updated on the knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, and imaging equipment.Participates in creating and sustaining a learning environment supported by evidenced based practice and research.Participates in the mentoring and education of technologists and students in assigned area.Educates patients/families regarding procedure and/or treatment to be performed as well as risk factors and prevention.Works with peers and other health care providers. Participates in ongoing in-service and educational seminars.Assists with the orientation and training of new staff.Compliance/Safety:Stays current and complies with state and federal regulations/statutes and company policies that impact the employees area of responsibility.If required for position, ensures all certifications and/or licenses are up-to-date and valid prior to expiration dates.Completes all company mandatory modules and required job specific training in the specified time frame.Responsible for reporting any safety related incident in a timely fashion through the Midas/RDE tool; attends all safety related training programs; performs work in a safe manner; monitors work environment for possible safety issues and ensures others are also performing work in a safe manner.QualificationsEducation Associates of Applied Science or other Related Fields(or)accredited MRI program(or)Graduate of an American Medical Association (AMA) approved Nuclear Medicine Technology Program(or)Graduate of an accredited School of Ultrasonography - RequiredCertification & Licensures Fingerprint Clearance Card application number- Required upon hireFingerprint Clearance Card- Required within 90 days of hireBLS (American Heart Assoc.)- RequiredEmployee will obtain and maintain appropriate clinical competencies for the roles assigned by their department leaderDiagnostic/X-ray:Current Radiologic Technologist certification ® with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) – RequiredArizona Department of Health Radiology Technologist licenseCT:ARRT CT OR Experience which allows employee to receive AZ State license for CT - RequiredAZDHS Certified Radiologic Technologist and CT - RequiredMammography:Current registry as a Mammography Technologist - RequiredMeets ACR Certification criteria - RequiredAZDHS Mammography- RequiredMRI:Current ARRT registry in MRI - RequiredUltrasound:American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) - Required with at least two specialtiesRVT - PreferredNuclear Medicine:Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification (NMTCB) and/or American Registry of Radiologic Technologist in Nuclear Medicine (ARRT(N)) - RequiredExperience Minimum 3 years' experience in an acute care setting - RequiredMinimum 1 year experience in a team lead or supervisory role – RequiredHealthcare is a rapidly changing environment and technology is integrated into almost all aspects of patient care.
