Scope A Registered Nurse assumes responsibility and accountability for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care of patients. Assess, recognize and address patients’ psychological and physical needs. Foster quality of care with the best interests of patients and their families in mind. Communicate compassionately and effectively. Assist in developing individualized treatment plans. Comply with evaluation, treatment and documentation guidelines. Oversee care delivered by LPNs and/or CNAs. Participate in clinical team conferences. Follow hospital, regulatory and professional guidelines, policies and procedures. Minimum Qualifications BLS/ACLS required upon hire for Registered Nurse positions at St. Mary’s Regional Hospital. Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing. An ASN/ADN degree must be completed with a BSN within four (4) years of hire unless the RN has at least fifteen (15) years of proven continuous RN experience in an acute care setting. Any RN who takes legally protected leave during the four (4) year period may have the period extended by comparable time. RNs employed by specified medical centers as of the indicated dates are exempt from the BSN requirement. Certification Required Current license as a Registered Nurse in the state of practice is required. Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS-HCP) certification upon hire or within 60 days of hire with prior approval (ACLS/NRP/PALS as appropriate for unit or service). Physical Demands Read and understand labels and patient information, operate monitors, and identify equipment and supplies. Frequent verbal communication with patients, providers, and visitors, especially during emergencies. Manual dexterity required for manipulating complex equipment, typing, and documentation. Lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients and handle supplies, including heavy items. Move patients and navigate crowded rooms with gurneys and portable equipment. May stand for extended periods. Location St. Mary’s Regional Hospital, Grand Junction, Colorado. Scheduled weekly hours: 36. Hourly rate: $36.71 – $56.17, depending on experience.
