We're looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team in Austin. This role will take ownership of accounting and financial reporting across multiple entities while working closely with Operations and other internal partners.

You'll be responsible for everything from financial statements and month-end close to budgeting, reconciliations, audit support, and cash management. We're looking for someone who can confidently manage the details while also understanding the bigger financial picture and communicating it clearly to others.

What You'll Do

Own Financial Reporting & Close

• Prepare timely and accurate financial statements and supporting schedules for assigned entities.
• Manage general ledger activity, journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and month-end and year-end close.
• Review financial results, investigate variances, and provide clear supporting explanations.
• Maintain accurate, GAAP-compliant accounting records and financial reporting.
• Manage cash and investment-related accounting, including bank activity, transfers, and reconciliations.
• Review and approve Accounts Payable transactions as assigned.

Support Planning, Audit & Compliance

• Partner with the team on annual budgets, forecasts, and ongoing financial analysis.
• Coordinate schedules, documentation, and research for annual audits, reviews, and tax preparation.
• Work with external auditors and other partners to respond to requests and resolve accounting questions.
• Maintain strong internal controls and support the continued development of accounting policies and procedures.
• Interpret governing documents and other financial requirements as applicable to assigned communities.

Partner Across the Business

• Build strong relationships with Operations leaders and serve as a trusted accounting resource.
• Help internal and external stakeholders understand financial results and resolve questions.
• Participate in financial reviews and collaborative problem-solving across Accounting and Operations.
• Share knowledge, best practices, and accounting guidance with team members as needed.

Improve How We Work

• Leverage systems and technology to improve accuracy, consistency, and efficiency.
• Help develop documentation, tools, and resources that support the broader accounting team.

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of progressive professional accounting experience; candidates with closer to 8 years of experience are preferred.
• Strong experience with financial statement preparation and financial reporting across multiple entities.
• Hands-on experience with general ledger accounting, journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and month-end close.
• Experience supporting budgeting, forecasting, audits, and tax-related processes.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and internal accounting controls.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with strong Excel skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to research and resolve accounting issues.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to partner effectively with both accounting and operational teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with HOA, property management, community management, or other real estate-related accounting.
• Experience supporting multiple properties, communities, or similar entities.
• Experience presenting or explaining financial statements to operational leaders, clients, boards, or other stakeholders.
• Familiarity with community association operations or governance.
• CPA certification or active pursuit of CPA certification.
• Experience with Vantaca or similar property/community management accounting software.

Additional Requirements

• Ability to work Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
• Must be able to work onsite at an Austin-area community location as required.
• Hybrid eligibility begins following successful completion of the initial probationary period.
• Candidates must currently reside in the Austin area or be willing to relocate at their own expense.
• No relocation assistance is available.
