Senior Manager Accounting Operations

A rapidly growing, multi-location consumer entertainment company is seeking a Senior Manager, Accounting Operations & Compliance to serve as the right hand to the Senior Director of Accounting during an exciting period of transformation. The organization is experiencing significant expansion, opening new locations nationwide while simultaneously preparing for a public company transition and implementing a new ERP platform. This role will play a critical leadership position within Accounting, helping coordinate multiple Accounting Managers, oversee compliance initiatives, and drive cross-functional strategic projects. Key Responsibilities Accounting Leadership & Operations Partner with senior accounting leadership to execute departmental strategy and operational priorities. Provide oversight and coordination across multiple accounting functions to ensure consistency, accountability, and timely execution. Help manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes while improving reporting quality and close efficiency. Serve as an escalation point for operational and cross-functional accounting matters. Prepare executive reporting packages, dashboards, and presentations for leadership. Compliance & Audit Lead accounting compliance initiatives, including coordination of internal controls, SOX readiness, audits, and regulatory requirements. Partner with external advisors to ensure timely completion of tax and compliance obligations across multiple jurisdictions. Monitor compliance calendars and proactively identify potential risks. Maintain accounting policies, process documentation, and internal control frameworks. Coordinate internal and external audit activities and support remediation efforts. Strategic Projects Help lead ERP implementation and accounting transformation initiatives. Support public company readiness efforts and finance infrastructure improvements. Drive process automation, system enhancements, and operational efficiencies. Partner with Finance, Operations, HR, IT, and other business units on enterprise-wide initiatives. Manage project timelines, stakeholder communication, and execution across multiple concurrent priorities. Leadership & Team Development Mentor and provide guidance to Accounting Managers and accounting staff. Supervise compliance personnel while fostering accountability and collaboration. Support workload planning, resource allocation, and team development. Help build a scalable accounting organization capable of supporting continued rapid growth. Qualifications Required CPA required. 8+ years of progressive accounting experience with at least 3 years in a leadership role. Combination of public accounting and private industry experience strongly preferred. Strong understanding of accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, and compliance. Excellent project management skills with the ability to lead multiple concurrent initiatives. Proven ability to collaborate across departments and communicate effectively with senior leadership. Preferred Experience with state and local tax, sales & use tax, or regulatory compliance. Experience in high-growth, multi-location, retail, hospitality, or consumer-facing businesses. Exposure to ERP implementations, preferably NetSuite. Experience supporting IPO readiness, SOX compliance, or public company environments.
