About the Opportunity A rapidly growing company in the renewable energy and financial technology space is seeking an experienced Consumer Loan Underwriter to join its expanding underwriting team. This is an exciting opportunity for an underwriting professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, analyzing complex financial information, and helping customers access financing solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in consumer lending with experience evaluating credit, income, and loan eligibility. Mortgage underwriting experience is highly transferable, while experience within the solar or home improvement lending industries is a strong plus. Key Responsibilities Underwrite consumer loans within assigned lending authority while ensuring compliance with company guidelines. Analyze borrower credit, income, assets, and supporting documentation to determine loan eligibility. Perform complex income calculations and financial analysis. Review, validate, and update loan files based on submitted documentation. Request and review additional documentation when necessary to complete underwriting decisions. Clearly communicate underwriting decisions and supporting rationale to internal teams and business partners. Provide outstanding customer service to borrowers and business partners regarding underwriting inquiries. Communicate with borrowers and partners via phone, email, and online platforms. Review project milestones throughout the lending process. Maintain accurate loan documentation and underwriting records. Participate in special projects and contribute ideas for continuous process improvement. Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure an efficient customer experience. Qualifications 3+ years of consumer loan underwriting experience. Experience underwriting mortgage, home improvement, consumer finance, or solar loans. Strong understanding of credit analysis, income calculations, and loan documentation. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to clearly explain underwriting decisions. Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple files. Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace. Experience using Slack or similar collaboration platforms is preferred. Self-motivated with exceptional attention to detail and analytical skills.
