Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 18 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 1 year of experience required License: Pending license accepted Certifications: BLS, NRP required Must-Have: Epic experience Description: Position for a high-risk Labor and Delivery RN. The shift required is nights. The nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:1. First-timers are accepted for this position. Weekend shifts are required every other weekend. Candidates must possess BLS and NRP certifications. On-call duties are not required. The clinician may float within their scope to meet facility needs. Block scheduling is not accommodated. Local candidates are not accepted. There are restrictions on time off requests, ideally no more than 5 days. The client may cancel up to 3 shifts at any time without penalty. On-call hours do not count towards guaranteed minimum hours. Special requirements include experience with cesarean births, postpartum tubal ligations, cerclage placement and removal, and waterbirth. Charting is done using Epic. The facility is an acute care, teaching hospital with a total of 317 staffed beds. Daily census includes approximately 10 in labor and 6 on the antepartum unit. The number of patient beds in the unit is 15. The unit supports interdisciplinary services such as IV teams, physical therapy, and pharmacy. Patient diagnoses primarily involve high-risk labor and delivery. Skills required include administration of medications, management of epidurals, and conducting non-stress tests. The clinician should have experience in managing complications such as pre-eclampsia, labor induction, and neonatal resuscitation. Training in charting systems is required, specifically Epic/Excellian. Candidates are expected to have knowledge of procedures and patient care practices in labor and delivery. Compliance with all state requirements is essential. References from a supervisor are mandatory for submission. All candidates must have a clear background check to proceed. Candidates should be aware of and agree to any requirement regarding fingerprinting for compliance checks.
