Job Details Job ID: 5616557 Application Deadline: Posted until filled Posted: Mar 27, 2026 5:00 AM (UTC) Starting Date: Immediately Job Description 26-27 Special Education School Psychologist @ Special Education Primary Purpose To assist Alief ISD schools in the referral, coordination, and monitoring process for students referred to special education and/or to assist Alief ISD schools in the development of appropriate educational programs for students. Education / Certification Licensed by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologist as a Licensed Specialist in School Psychology Master’s degree or higher from a recognized, accredited college or university Special Knowledge / Skills / Abilities Knowledge of federal and state special education rules and regulations including special education disability categories and impact educationally Knowledge of specially designed instruction & cross-battery evaluation practices Knowledge of prevention and intervention strategies in learning Knowledgeable regarding Cognitive Behavioral Therapy approaches Ability to write measurable goals to target social emotional skills Understand the individual needs of children with mental health concerns and has ability to communicate effectively with families who support these children Ability to coordinate, manage and collaborate with staff in accordance with duties Effective communication, human relations and leadership skills Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills Proficient in use of digital tools including Google Suite, Microsoft 365 ARD/IEP Software and Learning Platform Management Systems Experience Successful completion of LSSP internship Major Responsibilities and Duties Program Management Conduct Full Individual Evaluation assessments for students referred to special education (initiate, coordinate, collaborate, monitor progress on and complete evaluations within appropriate timelines). Review all Existing Evaluation Data to make appropriate determinations for the need for additional assessment. Review assessment results received from other school districts/outside sources to assure that all requirements/Texas Education Agency criteria are met. Adhere to mandatory timelines and compliance for program management. Assist with and/or conduct parent conferences for the purpose of reviewing and interpreting assessment results in a timely and appropriate manner to ensure parent meaningful participation in the ARD process. Provide teacher/staff consultation related to assessment results and educational planning of students evaluated. Participate in Case Review Committees as prescribed. Administer and interpret intelligence and achievement measures and conduct full individual evaluations for educational purposes. Assist in the preparation of appropriate individual educational plans (IEPs) for students in special education. Attend and participate in professional development meetings. Update skills as needed and directed. Participate in ARD Committee meetings, prepare or facilitate REED Meetings, or other meetings which involve special education assessment related needs of children. Complete Functional Behavioral Assessment and Behavior Intervention Plans as part of psychosocial evaluations. Know psycho-social development. Keep up-to-date data collection (notes, summaries, observations, etc.) regarding services provided as required by TEA, TBEP, and required for Medicaid and SHARS billing submissions. Complete all needed timely documentation of SHARS billable services including personal care services within expected timelines. Other Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures. Maintain an appropriate level of technology competence to meet the current and future needs of Alief. Implement alternative methods of instruction as needed. Perform other duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities You may be asked to provide mentorship and/or supervision to interns or practicum students. Evaluation Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of Licensed Specialists in School Psychology Personnel. Mental Demands / Physical Demands / Environmental Factors Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including computer and peripherals Posture: Standing, prolonged sitting, occasional kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing pulling, and twisting Motion: Repetitive hand motions; frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching; may also require climbing stairs and reaching over head Lifting: Moderate lifting and carrying (up to 15 pounds); May require occasional heavy lifting and carrying (15-45 pounds) Environment: May work prolonged or irregular hours; frequent district wide travel; all campuses are temperature controlled with hard surface floors Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress This document describes the general purpose and responsibilities assigned to this job and is not an exhaustive list of all responsibilities and duties that may be assigned or skills that may be required. Calendar Days: 195 Pay Grade: P04 2025-2026 Salary Range Min. $70,167 Mid. $82,508 Max. $94,847 (Based on previous experience) Salaries are determined by the number of completed and eligible years of service at an accredited school. Salary is based on 187 days. If working less than 187 days, the salary will be less. Position Type: Full-Time Salary: $70,167 to $94,847 Per Year Job Requirements Bachelor degree preferred.
