Role Description The Fiber Technician is a full‑time, on‑site role based in Milton, FL, responsible for installing, testing, and maintaining fiber‑to‑the‑home (FTTH) connections. Day‑to‑day work includes running and terminating fiber and copper cabling, installing network equipment, and performing optical and signal testing to verify service quality. The technician will troubleshoot connectivity and performance issues, perform repairs, and document all work completed in accordance with company standards and safety guidelines. The role also involves interacting with customers in a professional manner, explaining work performed, and coordinating with internal teams to ensure efficient and timely installations. Qualifications Demonstrated ability to work with cables and cabling systems, including routing, terminations, and cable management. Experience with fiber installation and handling, including splicing, connectorization, and basic fiber maintenance. Knowledge of optics and optical testing tools (e.g., OTDR, light meters) and the ability to interpret test results. Strong troubleshooting skills for diagnosing and resolving network and connectivity issues in the field. Understanding of FTTH architectures and basic networking concepts is preferred. Ability to work safely with hand and power tools, follow OSHA and company safety procedures, and operate in varied outdoor/indoor environments. Effective communication and customer service skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certifications or prior telecommunications/fiber experience are beneficial.
