Packaging Supervisor

Overview The Packaging Supervisor will direct sugar packaging operations on rotating shifts. The supervisor will direct teams of specialized union employees ensuring good manufacturing practices and safe operating procedures. The supervisor will achieve standard production volume, quality standards, and regulatory compliance through the supervision of hourly personnel (up to 35) on rotating shifts. Responsibilities Achieving results through subordinates in a unionized environment Maintaining standard production rates while maintaining compliance with safety, regulatory and quality standards Leading assigned teams in the continuous improvement process Training team members on proper procedures Experience 2 years of experience working in a packaging operation preferred Minimum of 3 years of experience leading a team in an industrial setting or equivalent military leadership Excellent verbal and written communication skills Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical and instrumentation Basic industrial electric background, computer, PLC programming, and mechanical troubleshooting skills Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices Core Competencies Analytical Thinking & Decision Making – Identifies and understands trends and/or issues; connects data points through analysis to arrive at a logical conclusion. Strategic Mindset – Understands company's short and long-term priorities and aligns department priorities and behavior around achievement of those objectives Education Four year degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent military experience preferred High School Diploma or GED required Supervisory Responsibility Up to 35 employees per shift Location The pay rate for the successful candidate will depend on the candidate’s qualifications and prior experience.
