About the Position

Job Opportunity – Operating Room RN – West Virginia

Start Date: October 15, 2026

Location: Charleston, West Virginia

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: 3x12 hour shifts, Days (06:45–19:15), with every other weekend rotation and on-call requirements. One day of call per week; 1-2 weekends per 4-5 week schedule (structured rotation). 30-minute response time when on call. Guaranteed 36 hours per week.

Highlights:

• Average daily census of 22 surgical cases in a Level IV Trauma Center and major teaching hospital
• Advanced surgical experience required: Cardiac, General Surgery, Vascular, Thoracic, and Robotic procedures
• Must be proficient in both circulating and scrubbing roles across multiple specialties
• Cerner charting system in an 838-bed short-term acute care facility
• Orientation provided every other week; free parking for travelers
• Holiday requests limited to no more than 1 of the 3 major holidays

Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years RN experience; 1 year of Operating Room specialty experience required
• West Virginia or Compact RN License (pending license accepted for submission)
• BLS certification through American Heart Association required
• MUST have documented cardiovascular surgery experience – this is non-negotiable
• MUST be proficient in both scrub and circulating roles
• Required surgical proficiencies include: Vascular procedures (AV fistulas/grafts, aortic surgeries, bypasses, carotids, embolectomies), Orthopedic (arthroscopies, total joints), General Surgery (colorectal/colon resections, laparoscopic procedures, Whipples, liver resections, thyroidectomies, mastectomies), ENT (tracheostomies, laryngectomies, radical neck dissections), Urology (cystectomies, nephrectomies, prostatectomies), Robotic Surgery (GYN, colorectal, hernias), and GYN procedures (abdominal/vaginal hysterectomies, repairs)
• Proficiency in vein harvesting and radial artery harvesting essential
• Minimum 2 Manager or Charge Nurse references from the past 2 years required
• Must reside 100 miles or more from facility (75-99 miles considered case-by-case)
• Flu vaccination required during flu season (October 1 - March 31) unless medical exemption documented
