NexGen Water Solutions, LLC is an oilfield services company with operations in the Permian, Eagle Ford / Austin Chalk, Haynesville, and Utica / Marcellus.Founded in 2017, the company has experienced rapid growth in recent years, gaining significant market share in the water transfer and treatment industries.We specialize in high volume water transfer services utilizing a variety of lay flat hose and poly pipe, and water treatment services to assist customers in maximizing the use of recycled water. Job Summary The Controller will play a critical role in ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with GAAP.Reporting directly to the CFO, this role is responsible for managing the monthly close process, financial statement preparation, general ledger integrity, and supporting audit requirements.Having recently implemented SAP Business One, the company is in the midst of a broader build-out of its accounting systems, processes, and controls.The Controller will lead that effort, tightening the close, integrating field and ERP data, and building a scalable back office to support continued growth.The ideal candidate is a hands-on builder who is equally comfortable owning the details of the ledger and leading process improvement, and who thrives in a fast-moving environment. Key Responsibilities Prepare, review, and ensure the accuracy of financial statements in compliance with GAAP. Own and continuously improve the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes including the preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger integrity. Partner with operations to ensure accurate and timely recording of all revenue, cost, and financial transactions. Assist with monthly and quarterly reporting packages for the board of directors and investors. Audit and Compliance Coordinate the annual audit and quarterly reviewed financials, providing necessary documentation and explanations. Ensure proper documentation of all accounting records and transactions for audit and compliance purposes. Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure consistency and adherence to GAAP. Provide technical accounting guidance to the team and address complex accounting issues. Oversee multi-state tax compliance, including sales and property tax, coordinating with outside advisors. Budgeting and Forecasting Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts. Monitor and analyze budget variances, providing insights and recommendations to management. Enhance cost and margin reporting by region and service line to support operational and pricing decisions. Prepare analysis to support capital project decisions and track results against plan. Enhance PO and AFE process and compliance. Process Improvement Own optimization of SAP Business One and lead the integration of Fieldcap (field ticketing) and Ramp (AP and spend) into a connected, well-controlled financial system. Identify and implement process and automation improvements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of the accounting function. Stay current with changes in GAAP and other accounting standards. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting.CPA required. Minimum of 5-10 years of progressive accounting experience, including public accounting and/or a senior role in industry. Experience building or scaling an accounting function, ideally in a private-equity-backed environment. Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements. Experience with SAP Business One is an advantage. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Comfort leveraging automation and AI-enabled tools to streamline financial reporting and analysis. Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
