Key Responsibilities School Program Support: Assist with opening and closing procedures and manage daily operations to ensure a consistent and smooth flow of activities. Support the Executive School Director in the management of the school, consistent with state and local regulations and Gardner School policies. Assist teachers and school leadership in ensuring classroom and playground equipment is maintained in good repair. Enforce all safety rules and regulations with team members for the safety of children and parents. Build and maintain positive relationships with parents and families, addressing questions, concerns, and feedback. Compliance and Licensing Standards: Monitor and ensure adherence to state licensing standards and maintain required student-to-teacher ratios. Team Member Break Management: Coordinate break schedules to ensure coverage and compliance with staffing ratios, spending about 50% of the time in classroom. Educational and Enrichment Program Oversight: Review lesson plans, manage and teach enrichment programs, coordinate vendors, and assist teachers with curriculum planning. Provide classroom and team support as needed and lead children through daily activities in the absence of teaching team members. Qualifications Education: Meet Massachusetts Rules for Child Care Director Licensing Standards for education and experience (Required). Bachelor’s degree (Preferred). Preferred degree in Early Childhood Education, Education Administration, or related field. Experience: Minimum two years in licensed childcare, with at least one year as a teacher or supervisor of a childcare program. Other: Valid driver’s license; eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Quick reaction with sound judgment and problem-solving skills; love working with children and a nurturing personality; excellent communication skills; strong organizational skills; confidentiality; positive relationships with parents and coworkers; understanding of licensing standards; effective verbal and written communication; time management; multitasking; reliable attendance. Physical Demands Operate computer, phone, and other office equipment as needed. Lift and carry children up to 60 pounds. Perform essential functions including class observations.
