Structural Welder

Shipyard Structural Welder Labor One Staffing is hiring shipyard structural welders in San Diego. Qualifications: Must be able to qualify in two gas shielded FCAW welding processes 71T-1 and 811N3 in the three positions. Knowledge of welding characteristics of metal. Must be able to work at heights, confined spaces, and any assigned shift. Must comprehend written and verbal instructions (in English). Must be able to hear warning signals, read and comprehend safety instructions, regulations and warnings. Job Duties: Welds parts in position for fabrication of vessels, tanks or other structural assemblies. Uses carbon electrodes to cut, shape and groove metal. May prepare workplace for welding by cleaning and/or preheating. Examines weld sizes of weld beads. Cleans weld area; sweeps and removes scrap. Other job duties as may be assigned relevant to the trade. Frequent to continuous lifting of welding equipment. Standing, balancing, walking, climbing ladders or equipment, reaching above shoulder or out in front, manual dexterity, pushing, pulling, kneeling, bending, seeing, hearing and occasionally lowering self into confined spaces, crawling through small openings and working in reclined positions, as needed. Works in all areas of the shipyard and on board ships. Hearing warning signals and reading and comprehending safety instructions.
