Principal Scrum Master – DARC2 ProgramDescriptionASRC Federal System Solutions, LLC (AFSS), a subsidiary of ASRC Federal, is a premier provider of systems engineering, software engineering, systems integration, engineering, and program management services supporting mission-critical national security and defense programs.AFSS is seeking a Principal Scrum Master to support the Deep Space Advanced Radar Capability (DARC2) Program in Colorado Springs, Colorado. DARC is a next-generation ground-based radar capability supporting Space Domain Awareness (SDA) and the detection, tracking, identification, and characterization of objects in deep space.The selected candidate will support Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) responsible for the development and delivery of computer and radar system capabilities. Working closely with IPT leadership, Product Owners, systems engineering, software, hardware, integration, and test teams, the Principal Scrum Master will lead Agile processes and help drive efficient, predictable execution of complex system development and product delivery activities.This position requires a strong understanding of Agile principles and practices and demonstrated experience applying those principles within multidisciplinary engineering environments involving both software and hardware configuration items.Key ResponsibilitiesServe as the Principal Scrum Master supporting multidisciplinary DARC2 Integrated Product Teams responsible for computer and radar system product development and delivery.Lead and facilitate Agile ceremonies, including daily standups, sprint planning, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, retrospectives, and other planning events.Manage and maintain Jira boards, workflows, product backlogs, sprint information, dashboards, and supporting Agile documentation.Partner with IPT leads and Product Owners to establish priorities, plan work, manage dependencies, and track progress toward program objectives and product deliveries.Plan, coordinate, and facilitate Program Increment (PI) planning, sprint planning, and other Agile planning activities.Develop, maintain, analyze, and communicate team performance metrics, including velocity, burn-down/burn-up data, backlog health, and other measures used to assess execution and identify risks.Identify and facilitate resolution of impediments affecting team performance, schedule, and product delivery.Coordinate across engineering disciplines and IPTs to identify and manage dependencies supporting integrated system development and delivery.Provide Agile coaching and guidance to team members, Product Owners, and technical leadership on Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, and continuous improvement practices.Promote consistent application of Agile processes while adapting practices to the needs of complex hardware, software, and systems engineering teams.Facilitate coordination among systems engineering, software engineering, hardware engineering, integration, test, configuration management, and program management organizations.Assist IPT leadership in identifying schedule risks, resource constraints, technical dependencies, and other issues affecting program execution.Support continuous process improvement initiatives and help mature Agile execution across the DARC2 engineering organization.Promote transparency, accountability, collaboration, and effective communication across multidisciplinary teams.Basic QualificationsBachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, or another related discipline with a minimum of five (5) years of relevant professional experience; Master's degree with three (3) years of relevant experience; or PhD with one (1) year of relevant experience.Active U.S. Government Secret security clearance required at the time of application, current and within scope.Must be a U.S. Citizen.Demonstrated experience leading Agile teams within complex engineering, software development, systems integration, or product development environments.Experience using the Atlassian tool suite, including Jira and Confluence.Strong working knowledge of Scrum, Kanban, and Agile planning and execution practices.Experience planning and facilitating Agile ceremonies and planning events.Familiarity with systems engineering principles and multidisciplinary product development.Demonstrated ability to facilitate teams, manage competing priorities, identify and resolve impediments, and support successful product delivery.Experience developing, tracking, and communicating Agile team performance metrics.Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interface effectively with engineering teams, technical leadership, program management, and customers.Ability to travel up to 10%.Preferred QualificationsBachelor's or advanced degree in a STEM discipline, particularly Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field.Scrum Master certification such as Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), Professional Scrum Master (PSM), SAFe Scrum Master (SSM), or equivalent.Experience implementing or working within the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe).Previous experience transitioning a team or organization from traditional development processes to an Agile execution framework.Experience applying Agile methodologies to complex programs involving both software and hardware development.Experience supporting Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) within complex system development programs.Experience coordinating dependencies and deliverables across multiple Agile teams or IPTs.Understanding of radar system architecture and the fundamental building blocks of ground-based radar systems.Experience supporting Space Domain Awareness, missile warning, missile defense, radar, command and control, or other complex DoD systems.Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) principles and methodologies.Experience with Cameo Systems Modeler or similar MBSE tools.Familiarity with requirements management, configuration management, system integration, verification, and validation processes.Experience working within Department of Defense or U.S. Space Force acquisition, engineering, or system development environments.Familiarity with DevSecOps principles and Agile software development environments.Desired CharacteristicsStrong leadership, facilitation, and coaching skills with the ability to influence teams without direct authority.Ability to effectively communicate with engineers, technical leads, Product Owners, program managers, and government and industry customers.Comfortable working across software, hardware, systems engineering, integration, and test disciplines.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Ability to recognize organizational, technical, and process impediments and facilitate effective solutions.Detail-oriented with strong planning, organizational, and time-management skills.Ability to manage multiple priorities and competing requirements within a dynamic engineering environment.Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement, collaboration, technical excellence, and mission success.TravelAbility to travel up to 10% in support of DARC2 program activities, integration events, customer meetings, and other program requirements.JobFamilyInformation TechnologyJobFunctionApplication DevelopmentPayTypeSalaryHiringMinRate110381HiringMaxRate149019.5
