The Civil Engineer will play a crucial role in supporting the Land Development project team by executing various design tasks for land development projects. This position involves active participation in coordination with review agencies and clients. The ideal candidate will be expected to develop and demonstrate proficiency in the essential functions outlined below.
Collaborate with project team members and clients on various project assignments as directed by senior staff. Draft, review, and finalize preliminary and final site plans, documents, and computations for senior staff review. This includes, but is not limited to, reports, opinions, and recommendations on project direction, due diligence and site analysis reports, engineer's opinions of probable costs, project schedules, utility design computations, and local/state permit applications.
Research local/state zoning and design requirements as directed by senior staff. Perform site visits and field assignments as needed. Review project survey data to assess existing site conditions and key development considerations, including legal descriptions, ALTA surveys, and easement documents. Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D and related engineering software to complete assignments efficiently and within prescribed deadlines, ensuring compliance with the standards outlined in the Atwell Product Quality Manual. Address review letters and modify plans based on feedback from agencies and clients, as directed by senior staff. Assist senior staff in communication with agencies and clients. Independently manage individual workload and communicate needs to Project Managers and Directors. Apply fundamental engineering principles to real-world applications.
Key competencies and skills include proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office Suite, site grading design, utility design, quantity takeoffs, zoning and design standards, ADA compliance, entitlement process, construction and permitting, shop drawing review, communication skills, and professional competency.
Nonessential functions include additional certifications or licenses, passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam, and providing training and mentorship to less-experienced team members.
Education: Bachelor's degree in civil engineering. Experience: Entry level to four (0 to 4) or more years of experience contributing to the site and infrastructure design of land development projects.
Pay Range: $85,000 - $100,000 USD
