Line Cook

Position Summary The Line Cook is responsible for preparing and executing menu items according to established recipes, production standards, and presentation guidelines. This role plays a critical part in maintaining food quality, consistency, and operational efficiency throughout all hospitality and culinary operations within the Mavericks Performance & Training Center. The ideal candidate is a highly motivated culinary professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, demonstrates strong attention to detail, and possesses the discipline required to consistently execute at a high level. This position supports player dining, executive dining, VIP hospitality, corporate events, and daily food service operations. Core Responsibilities: Food Preparation & Culinary Execution Prepare and cook menu items according to established recipes, standards, and production guidelines. Execute all assigned station responsibilities while maintaining quality, consistency, and presentation standards. Ensure proper preparation, cooking temperatures, portioning, and plating techniques. Assist with daily mise en place, prep production, and station setup. Maintain speed, organization, and accuracy during service periods. Execute food orders efficiently while maintaining quality standards. Support culinary leadership in delivering exceptional food experiences across all hospitality programs. Station Management & Operational Readiness Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked workstation. Ensure all equipment, tools, and supplies are properly maintained and operational. Monitor product levels and communicate inventory needs to culinary leadership. Follow all opening, closing, and side-work procedures. Properly label, date, rotate, and store all food products according to company standards. Assist with receiving and storing deliveries as required. Food Safety & Sanitation Adhere to all food safety, sanitation, and health department regulations. Maintain proper food handling, storage, labeling, and temperature control procedures. Ensure cleanliness and sanitation of workstations, equipment, and production areas. Follow all workplace safety procedures and operational guidelines. Participate in daily and weekly cleaning responsibilities. Teamwork & Professionalism Work collaboratively with culinary team members and hospitality operations staff. Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and a positive attitude at all times. Accept coaching and feedback from culinary leadership. Support fellow team members during service and production periods. Contribute to a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement. Maintain professional appearance and adhere to grooming standards. Guest Experience Support Understand the importance of food quality in delivering exceptional hospitality experiences. Execute menu items with consistency and attention to detail. Support culinary operations for players, coaches, executives, VIP guests, and special events. Take pride in producing food that reflects the standards and reputation of the Dallas Mavericks organization. Qualifications & Experience Required Qualifications Minimum 1-3 years of culinary experience in a restaurant, hotel, catering, private club, or hospitality environment. Basic understanding of cooking techniques, food preparation, and kitchen operations. Ability to follow recipes and production standards consistently. Strong work ethic and willingness to learn. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Ability to communicate effectively and work as part of a team. Food Handler Certification required or ability to obtain upon hire. Preferred Qualifications Experience in high-volume hospitality operations. Culinary school training or formal culinary education. Experience supporting catering, banquet, sports hospitality, or premium dining operations. Knowledge of multiple cooking stations including grill, sauté, pantry, and production.
