General Description The Railroad Commission of Texas seeks a Legal Assistant to work with the Office of General Counsel-Legal Enforcement Section. Duties include, and are not limited to, managing and organizing a large docket of Legal Enforcement cases. drafting documents, including but not limited to Original Complaints, Settlement Offers, Orders, and Memoranda, organizing and tracking Commission files in accordance with record retention requirements, assisting with legal and administrative support for the Legal Enforcement Section (filing, research, drafting, typing, mailing, proofreading, and other duties as assigned). Works under the immediate supervision of the Staff Manager, under the direction of the Deputy General Counsel, and as a team member with the entire Legal Enforcement Staff.

General Description The Railroad Commission of Texas seeks a Legal Assistant to work with the Office of General Counsel-Legal Enforcement Section. Job Duties
- Manage Commission Legal Enforcement cases.
- Function as Legal Assistant for Legal Enforcement Section.
- Compile file information and draft documents for the Commission attorneys.
- Organize and track a large, complex docket of cases.
- Acquire a full understanding of Commission practices and legal authority regarding the enforcement of Commission statutes, rules, and administrative penalty matters.
- Assist attorneys with hearing preparations.
- Schedule administrative hearings and provide required information to Commission Docket Services.
- Organize and maintain records, compile reports, and timely respond to Commission attorneys with accurate information.
- Operate MS Office Suite applications and an online docketing system.
- Coordinate with Railroad Commission staff on docket management.
- Research, draft documents, proofread, and communicate clearly both orally and in writing. and
- Other duties, as assigned.
Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications
- College degree or equivalent certification and/or work experience.
- Ability to prioritize work assignments, to prepare accurate and grammatically correct documents, to organize and index files, and to draft and understand complex professional documents.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite, particularly Word and Excel. familiarity with other computer applications.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Two years of related professional experience with some litigation and docket management experience preferred.
- Experience implementing or using an automated docket management system.
- Some knowledge of the statutory and regulatory requirements for energy companies. operating in Texas-found in the Texas Administrative Code and the Texas Natural Resources Code.
- Knowledge of legal principles, practices, and proceedings of state and federal laws, rules, and regulations, the Administrative Procedures Act, and agency administrative rules and regulations.
- Ability to manage a complex workload and the staff involved in performing the work.
- Prioritize workloads and meet applicable goals, objectives, and performance metrics. communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to take initiative and work independently.
- Ability to work effectively on a team.
- Ability to address issues/concerns in a professional manner.
- Ability to maintain working relationships with internal/external stakeholders.
- Ability to respond to high-pressure situations and meet changing demands and timelines.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and database systems.
- Demonstrate excellent organizational, communication, and writing skills.
- The physical requirements described here are representative of those required of an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
- Ability to reach high and low, open, close, and retrieve files from file cabinets as well as operate the computer keyboard and appropriate office equipment. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
