Position Summary
The Teacher Assistant III is a highly qualified early childhood educator who possesses an Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or a closely related field. This position serves as an instructional leader within the classroom and works
collaboratively with the Lead Teacher to provide high-quality educational experiences that promote school readiness, social-emotional development, and positive family engagement.

Teacher Assistant employees are expected to demonstrate leadership, mentor less experienced staff, and contribute to the continuous improvement of classroom quality.

Minimum Qualifications

• Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or closely related field preferred
• Active Illinois Gateway Registry Membership
• Current CPR/First Aid Certification
• Knowledge of Illinois Early Learning Standards
• Experience working in a licensed childcare setting preferred

 

Essential Responsibilities

In addition to Teacher Assistant I and II responsibilities:

• Assist in planning and implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum.
• Support child assessments and individualized learning plans.
• Help analyze children's developmental progress.
• Mentor and coach Teacher Assistant I staff.
• Provide instructional support to Teacher Assistant II staff.
• Assist with classroom observations and quality improvement initiatives.
• Support DCFS compliance and classroom documentation.
• Help prepare children for kindergarten readiness.
• Assist with parent conferences and family communication.
• Substitute for the Lead Teacher when assigned.
• Promote a culture of professionalism, teamwork, and continuous learning.
