Overview Sunoco LPis a leading energy infrastructure and fuel distribution master limited partnership operating across 32 countries and territories in North America, the Greater Caribbean, and Europe. The Partnership’s midstream operations include an extensive network of approximately 14,000 miles of pipeline and over 160 terminals. This critical infrastructure complements the Partnership’s fuel distribution operations, which distribute over 15 billion gallons annually to approximately 11,000 Sunoco and partner-branded retail locations, as well as independent dealers and commercial customers. Position reports directly to the VP of Mergers and Acquisitions and is responsible for identifying, analyzing, negotiating, and closing fuel distribution acquisition projects for the company. The role will create a pipeline of projects by researching and cold calling potential leads, utilizing industry brokers to develop new opportunities, use existing customer lists to identify potential sellers, and will assure company is brought into larger brokered deals by maintaining strong relationships with industry brokers. Responsibilities Create a pipeline of acquisition projects by researching and cold calling potential leads, utilizing industry brokers, and using existing customer lists to identify potential sellers. Close deals that exceed budgeted EBITDA objectives by maintaining a strong pipeline of targets that meet internal thresholds. Work with the M&A analytics team to build detailed financial models assessing deals, including optimization options, synergy capture, run‑rate adjustments, and forward capital needs. Conduct deep market analysis for potential targets, covering competitive behavior, customer trends, regulation, population trends, and alternative strategies to assure ongoing or improved cash flows. Develop overarching M&A strategy that focuses resources on targets supporting longer‑term cash flows. Lead and coordinate due diligence efforts on all targets, vetting local regulatory environment, aligning synergy with support teams, and ensuring necessary operational and integration components are represented in sales agreements. Work with legal to draft all elements of the buy‑side process, including non‑disclosure agreements, letters of intent, asset purchase agreements, and other necessary paperwork to support the transaction. Support integration work relating to Sunoco practices, policies, and systems on closed transactions, ensuring all support groups are aligned with timelines and items included in deal structures. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Engineering, or another related discipline. 15+ years in the U.S. petroleum fuels business. Overall understanding of the fuel distribution business, including supply, trading, logistics, and operations. Proficiency in financial modeling of capital projects and acquisition targets. Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated leadership capability. Preferred Skills MBA and/or other post‑graduate education. Working Conditions Usually normal office working conditions. Must be able to remain stationary 50% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting or standing. Occasional overnight travel may be required. Occasional visits to industrial/manufacturing settings, which may include exposure to various materials and chemicals, extreme temperatures, and loud machinery, requiring appropriate personal protective equipment. Primary work location: Dallas, TX. Alternate locations: Boston, NY, or Philadelphia.
