PERA pension Federal student loan forgiveness eligibleResponsibilitiesPerforms specimen gross examinationSelects, dissects and submits tissue sections for microscopic examinationPerforms frozen sectionsPerforms gross and microscopic photographyPrepares and utilizes necessary materials for teaching, training and evaluation of students (pathology residents, non-pathology residents, and medical students) and technical staffMaintains specimen storage (both short and long term) to meet regulatory, legal and teaching requirementsPerforms intraoperative kidney biopsy adequacy serviceCollects data for and assesses quality indicators for surgical pathologyAssist with oversight, testing, and optimization of laboratory information system workflows related to surgical pathology servicesKnowledge of accrediting and regulatory agencies standardsAssists in the evaluation of equipment and instrumentationWrites procedures and provides technical direction as needed to staffAssists with billing and audits and assurance of complianceDemonstrates patient and family centered care behaviorsQualificationsMinimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in biological sciences and completion of formal Pathologists' Assistant training program Certification or eligibility for certification as a Pathologists' Assistant by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), OR an approved equivalent As a condition of employment, those hired "as eligible" must become certified within 24 months of hirePreferred Qualifications: Prior experience as a pathologist assistant preferred but new graduates welcome to applyEligible for Benefits: Yes Union/Non Union: Non-Union Min: $45.92 Max: $68.88
