Locations Southern California Appointment Type Temporary Job Search Category/Discipline Faculty - Social Sciences Time Basis Part Time Workplace Type On-site (work in-person at business location) Position The temporary faculty pool in Public Administration for part‑time teaching appointments at the Department of Political Science, College of Letters, Arts, and Social Sciences. Positions are filled as needed, based on enrollment and funding. Candidates may need to be available to begin teaching on short notice. Fall term: late August–mid December; Spring term: mid January–mid May; Summer sessions may be available. Assignments may include day, evening, and/or weekend courses. Required Qualifications Master’s degree in Political Science, Public Administration, or related discipline. Preferred Qualifications Ph.D. in Political Science or related discipline. Prior teaching experience at the college or university level and evidence of strong teaching. For MPA courses, academics or practitioners are welcome to apply. For applicants who are academics: ABD in Political Science or Public Administration required by date of application. For applicants who are practitioners: MPA (by date of application) or Master’s in a related discipline and a minimum of 5 years experience in government or nonprofit organizations. Salary and Benefit Information Initial rank and salary for lecturer faculty are based on professional experience and educational background and are determined by the hiring department. Initial appointments are for one semester only. Monthly base salaries are prorated to the number of units worked and paid in six monthly payments per semester. Applicants will be hired at the Lecturer A or B rank. The anticipated hiring range does not exceed $6,221 per month.
