low voltage technician

Broad Shield Security Inc. is seeking a skilled and dependable Low Voltage Systems Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience installing, servicing, troubleshooting, and testing commercial low-voltage and electronic security systems.

Responsibilities

• Install, service, troubleshoot, and test CCTV/IP camera systems
• Install and service access control systems , including card readers, electric strikes, maglocks, door contacts, REX devices, and related equipment
• Install and service burglar/intrusion alarm systems
• Work with fire alarm systems and devices
• Run, terminate, label, dress, and test CAT5e/CAT6 and other low-voltage cabling
• Install conduit, pathways, racks, panels, and associated low-voltage equipment
• Perform equipment installation, programming, and system configuration when qualified
• Troubleshoot system, device, wiring, network, and communication issues
• Read and follow project scopes, drawings, diagrams, and installation instructions
• Properly test completed work before leaving the job site
• Maintain clean, organized, professional workmanship
• Provide accurate job documentation, including work completed, testing results, materials used, and issues discovered
• Take clear before, progress, and after photos of work performed
• Communicate unexpected site conditions or scope changes to management before proceeding
• Travel to project sites as required

Requirements

• Hands-on knowledge of low-voltage and electronic security systems
• Experience with CCTV, access control, burglar alarms, fire alarm systems, and structured cabling
• Ability to terminate and test CAT6 cabling
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Comfortable using ladders and working in commercial environments
• Ability to use standard hand and power tools
• Valid driver's license required
• OSHA 30 required
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Reliable, professional, and able to communicate clearly with management and customers
• Availability for occasional after-hours work when projects require it

Preferred Qualifications

• NICET certification
• FDNY credentials/certifications
• Experience programming security or low-voltage systems
• Networking knowledge
• Conduit/EMT experience
• Experience with multiple manufacturers and security platforms
