General Job Summary The Assistant Manager, Operations manages overall store operations and achieves company goals and directives. Customer Service Provide positive representation of Westlake Ace Hardware and proactively assist customers in solving problems. Greet customers entering the store and thank them when they leave. Support courteous and effective handling of calls, pages, and customer complaints. Utilize excellent product knowledge and store layout awareness. Store Operations Maintain a positive, professional, and safe work environment for all associates. Supervise general operations, opening and closing duties, and implementation of Store Support Center programs. Ensure successful Loss Prevention, Safety, and Internal Audits. Manage cashiering functions, including training, maintenance, audits, and reports. Direct preventative maintenance and repairs to protect store assets. Assist with special projects, standard operating procedures, and daily maintenance of sales floor and stock rooms. Keep price changes, label updates, and signage current. Inventory & Merchandising Support forklift operations and safe receiving of merchandise. Ensure proper stocking, back‑stock level maintenance, and cycle counts. Order and maintain desirable product inventory levels to maximize profitability. Assist with merchandise resets, signage updates, and orderly sales floor. Hiring & Training of Associates Assist in training, hiring, scheduling, reviewing, rewarding, and coaching Head Cashiers and Cashiers. Recruit and promote advancement opportunities for Westlake Ace associates. Coordinate with the General Manager for approvals. Leadership Lead store operations in the absence of the General Manager. Maintain approachability, communicate merchandising, cost control, and sales ideas. Participate in store meetings and manage staff dynamics. Minimum Skills, Requirements, and Qualifications High School diploma or GED equivalent. Prior retail management experience preferred. Hardware experience preferred.
