Licensed Practical Nurse, Adult Cardiothoracic Surgery Clinic

Overview The LPN Clinic is responsible for providing patient care following established standards and practices. Assists physician, nurse, and staff with the daily coordination of patient care and patient access. Coordinates patient flow, schedules appointments, procedures, tests and referrals. May serve as a preceptor for clinical staff. Relies on guidelines to accomplish tasks. Relies on some experience and judgment to complete job. Works under general supervision. May lead and direct the work of others within scope of practice. We are currently offering a $2,000 sign on bonus with a 1-year full time commitment! Responsibilities TECHNICAL TASKS: Ability to triage calls including determining appropriate medical decision making (e.g., divert to Emergency Department, STEP IN clinic, or PCP). Demonstrates competency and accuracy in all work tasks. Courteously answers telephone, properly routing calls, charting appropriately in EMR including information given and received. Takes complete and accurate messages as required. Assists in assessing medical and nursing care rendered by self and others within the practice, identifying any need for improvement and communicates this information to superiors. Uses appropriate triage protocols via EMR to guide for the appropriate care of patients in conformance with policies and procedures. Takes responsibility for improving technical skills, critical thinking and interpersonal relationship skills as needed. Fills in and assists other office staff members during their absence or workload. CRITICAL THINKING: Responsible for accurate and timely completion of nursing duties scheduled during the shift without interference to the quality of work. Uses interpersonal or communication skills with individuals to achieve desired patient outcomes and maintains forthright and honest behavior. Uses internal and external resources to resolve, meet or exceed patient and family health care needs. Assures delivery of quality patient care by identifying problems and assisting in assessment of patient health status. Plans use of time at work, sets priorities, and assists others as necessary. Demonstrates professionalism and courteous communication; inspires confidence from patients, visitors and families. Demonstrates knowledge of fire, safety, hazardous materials handling (if applicable) and infection control policies. Explains planned therapies, tests and/or treatments to patients and their families. Demonstrates problem-solving by assessing situations and choosing appropriate actions. INTERPERSONAL RELATIONS: Supports the mission and values, participates in committees, implements changes, and communicates suggestions for improvements. Maintains a safe, clean, and private patient care environment. Participates in orientation of new personnel. Establishes good rapport with other staff. Greets patients, family members and visitors in a friendly, courteous and professional manner with empathy and positive feedback. Other Duties as Assigned: Willing to take on additional responsibilities as needed by the organization. Qualifications Graduate of Accredited LPN program.
