This role requires 100% onsite work in Cordova, Alaska.

The Enrollment Coordinator serves as the steward of the Tribe's official membership records and is responsible for administering the Tribal enrollment program in accordance with the Native Village of Eyak Constitution, Enrollment Ordinance, and Tribal policies. This position preserves the historical, legal, and cultural integrity of Tribal citizenship while ensuring accurate enrollment records, supporting Tribal governance, and providing quality member services for current and future generations.

Essential duties include serving as the official custodian of Tribal enrollment records, maintaining the integrity, security, accuracy, and confidentiality of all enrollment files and Tribal membership data. The Coordinator administers the Tribe's enrollment program, coordinates the complete enrollment lifecycle, serves as the primary point of contact for Tribal citizens and applicants regarding enrollment, membership status, Tribal identification, lineal descent verification, constitutional requirements, and enrollment procedures, and assists Tribal citizens with navigating enrollment-related matters throughout all stages of life.

This position has no supervisory responsibilities. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Position requirements include ability to learn and apply Tribal Constitution, Enrollment Ordinance, Tribal policies, and applicable federal regulations, exceptional attention to detail and accuracy, ability to research, analyze, and verify documentation to established standards, ability to exercise discretion, sound judgment, and maintain strict confidentiality, strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate professionally and respectfully with Tribal citizens, leadership, partner agencies, and the public, ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with committees, leadership, and staff, knowledge of administrative and office procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, and workplace terminology, knowledge of electronic records security, confidential information management, and data protection best practices, strong organizational and time management skills, understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work-related documents, attention to detail and thoroughness in completing work tasks, ability to work well in a team environment, ability to be proactive and take initiative in work, ability to utilize document management, scanning, and electronic filing systems, ability to generate reports, maintain spreadsheets, and analyze membership data, ability to learn and effectively use Tribal enrollment software, records management systems, and other specialized applications.

Progeny experience preferred. Experience using cloud-based storage and collaboration platforms (e.g., SharePoint). Experience in Microsoft Office 365 tools (Word, Excel, etc.). Skilled in data entry with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. Experience with database management systems and maintaining accurate electronic records.

Education and experience required include a high school diploma or equivalent, three (3) years of progressively responsible administrative experience involving records management, customer service, legal or regulatory documentation, enrollment administration, benefits administration, government services, or a related field, experience maintaining confidential records and working with sensitive personal information. Preferred qualifications include experience working for a Tribal government, Alaska Native organization, or other sovereign government, experience with Tribal enrollment, genealogy, vital records, or lineal descent research, knowledge of federal Indian law, Tribal sovereignty, and Bureau of Indian Affairs enrollment processes, experience using enrollment or membership database systems.

Physical requirements include regularly bending, crouching, standing, and moving about to complete work, regularly manipulating electronic data to gather, input, and otherwise coordinate work, use office machines such as multi-line phones, faxes, scanners or otherwise communicate, correspond, and complete these tasks associated with office machines, ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time, ability to operate a computer, telephone, and standard office equipment, ability to move about the office to access files, equipment, and attend meetings, ability to communicate effectively in person, over the phone, and through written correspondence, ability to review and produce documents and data on a computer screen and in print, occasional ability to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds (e.g., office supplies, files), ability to adjust focus and maintain attention in an office setting with moderate noise.

Work environment includes indoor, climate-controlled office environment, shared workspace in close proximity to other desks and colleagues, moderate noise level (conversation, office equipment, phones), frequent use of computers, monitors, and other office equipment, fluorescent or LED overhead lighting, extended periods of sitting at a workstation, occasional walking within the office and to shared resources (printer, break room, meeting rooms), possible exposure to paper dust, toner, and cleaning products used in the office. Other requirements include required to submit to a background check and follow the NVE Tribe's drug policies.
