JOB SUMMARY - HR Manager CHA Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center CHA Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center (HPMC) is an acute care facility that has been caring for the Hollywood community and surrounding areas since 1924. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS As the HR Manager, you are responsible for providing strategic and operational Human Resources support to hospital leadership, managers, and employees. This position serves as a trusted HR partner and provides guidance on employee relations, performance management, employment practices, recruitment, compliance, workplace investigations, and HR policies and procedures. The HR Manager works closely with leaders at all levels to address workforce needs, resolve employee concerns, promote positive employee relations, and ensure compliance with federal and California employment laws, hospital policies, and applicable regulatory requirements.
Models and reinforces ethical behavior in self and others in accordance to the Code of Conduct; adheres to organizational policies and guidelines; supports compliance initiatives; maintains confidences; admits mistakes; conducts business with honesty; shows consistency in words and actions; follows through on commitments.
All Directors, Managers and Supervisors are accountable for communication, implementation, enforcement, monitoring and oversight of compliance policies and practices in their departments. SERVICE & QUALITY: In addition to defined technical requirements, accountable for consistently demonstrating service behaviors and principles defined by the Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center, as well as specific departmental/organizational initiatives. Also accountable for consistently demonstrating the knowledge, skills, abilities, and behaviors necessary to provide superior and culturally sensitive service to each other, to our patients, and to purchasers, contracted providers and vendors. WORKPLACE SAFETY: In addition to defined working conditions and physical requirements, employees are accountable for working safely; following established policies & procedures; utilizing all designated protective personal equipment (PPE) and/or safety equipment assigned for task; and reporting all injuries and hazards to their supervisor immediately.
Supervisors and Managers are accountable for ensuring the safety performance of employees; applying consistent practices in compliance with federal, state and local regulations; providing guidance to maintain a safe and healthy work environment.

- Partner with hospital leaders and managers on employee relations, performance management, and workplace concerns.
- Conduct and/or oversee employee investigations, including complaints involving workplace conduct, discrimination, harassment, attendance, performance, and policy violations.
- Provide guidance regarding corrective action, progressive discipline, performance improvement, and termination decisions.
- Interpret and apply HR policies, procedures, collective bargaining agreements, and applicable employment laws.
- Provide guidance regarding California employment requirements, including leaves of absence, accommodations, wage and hour requirements, and protected employee rights.
- Partner with leaders on recruitment, selection, onboarding, transfers, promotions, and other employment actions.
- Support workforce planning and staffing needs in partnership with department leadership.
- Advise managers on effective employee communication, coaching, and conflict resolution.
- Support performance evaluation processes and hold leaders accountable for timely completion and appropriate documentation.
- Partner with employees and leaders to resolve workplace concerns while balancing employee needs with organizational and operational requirements.
- Maintain confidentiality of employee and organizational information.
- Ensure accurate and timely maintenance of personnel records and HRIS information.
- Partner with HR team members on leave administration, benefits, compensation, onboarding, and other HR programs.
- Develop, interpret, and communicate HR policies and procedures.
- Provide HR training and education to managers and employees on policies, employment practices, workplace conduct, and other HR topics.
- Monitor compliance with applicable federal, state, and local employment laws and healthcare-related requirements.
- Support audits, regulatory reviews, and HR reporting as needed.
- Identify opportunities to improve HR processes, employee engagement, retention, and organizational effectiveness.
- Maintain effective working relationships with employees, managers, executives, and other hospital stakeholders.
- Participate in HR projects and initiatives and perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited College or university
- Master’s degree from an accredited College or university
- Five (5) years of progressive HR experience, within an acute-care hospital or healthcare environment.
- Two (2) years leadership experience in HR.
- Strong knowledge of California employment laws and HR practices.
- Experience handling employee relations, investigations, performance management, and corrective action.
- Experience working with managers and senior leaders in a fast-paced and complex environment.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive employee matters.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- ADP Workforce Now and Microsoft Office experience.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with the HR team and hospital leadership.
- Labor relations and union experience.
- Experience interpreting collective bargaining agreements.
- Experience with grievances, arbitrations, and labor-management meetings.
- Knowledge of TJC and other healthcare regulatory requirements.
- Current Los Angeles County Fire Card required (within 30 days of hire).
- Assault Response Competency (ARC) required (within 30 days of hire)
