Principal Formulations Scientist

Eurofins PSS West seeks a Principal Formulations Scientist to develop and characterize complex drug formulations, manage data practices, and explore AI applications at a San Diego client site. The role combines laboratory expertise with predictive modeling for poorly soluble and unstable compounds across multiple delivery routes.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop prototype formulations for oral, subcutaneous, and intravenous delivery routes
- Characterize poorly behaved compounds and develop strategies to address solubility and stability challenges
- Conduct and interpret solubility, stability, and in-vitro performance studies using physicochemical data
- Apply PBPK and PBBM modeling tools to predict compound and formulation performance
- Write and review study protocols, technical reports, and maintain ELN documentation standards
Requirements
- PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field
- Experience formulating and characterizing poorly behaved compounds with low solubility or instability
- Hands-on proficiency with analytical techniques: HPLC, DSC, PXRD, spectroscopy
- Experience with PBPK/PBBM modeling software such as GastroPlus
- Familiarity with AI application and prompt engineering
- ELN experience including development of standards and best practices
- US work authorization without sponsorship requirement
Compensation: $90,000-$115,000/yr
