Our organization’s Department of Behavioral Health is on the lookout for a skilled Board-Certified or Board Eligible Inpatient Psychiatrist to become part of our vibrant Inpatient Psychiatric Unit at Zucker Hillside Hospital.

In this significant position, you will play an essential role within a team of three physicians in the Adult Psychiatry Unit, guiding a dedicated sub-team that comprises social workers, rehabilitation therapists, and nursing personnel. This role presents ample opportunities for academic involvement, enabling you to mentor and instruct a variety of behavioral health trainees, including medical students, residents, and nurse practitioner students specializing in psychiatry. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to work alongside our esteemed Psychiatry Research program, contributing to advancements in the field.

Zucker Hillside Hospital is a distinguished 236-bed behavioral health facility recognized for its innovative clinical, educational, and research initiatives. Over the last three decades, it has hosted several National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) research centers dedicated to schizophrenia treatment, including a Clinical Research Center, an Intervention Research Center, and a Center for Intervention Development and Applied Research. These federally funded centers have earned Zucker Hillside national and international acclaim for its pioneering efforts in diagnosing and treating severe mental illnesses. Furthermore, ZHH boasts exceptional health professions training programs, featuring a large residency in general adult psychiatry, fellowships in child and adolescent psychiatry, consultation-liaison (CL), geriatric, and addiction psychiatry, as well as externships, internships, and post-doctoral fellowships in psychology, social work, nursing, and nurse practitioner programs. In 2024, Zucker Hillside Hospital received the Magnet Recognition Program designation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center, acknowledging its excellence in nursing services. This recognition places Zucker Hillside among the ten other hospitals within our system that have also achieved Magnet status, reflecting a steadfast commitment to healthcare excellence.

Our inpatient services cater to specific populations, including units for adolescents, college-aged individuals, adults, geriatrics, and women (perinatal psychiatry). Treatment specialties encompass early-phase treatment, depression, schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders, peripartum mood and anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, personality disorders, and medical/neurological conditions with psychiatric symptoms, as well as adolescent and geriatric psychiatry, including Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders. Notably, Zucker Hillside features a beautiful 22-bed inpatient women’s unit, the first of its kind in New York State, specializing in the treatment of women experiencing perinatal psychiatric illnesses.

Our outpatient programs cater to all age groups and cover a comprehensive range of care. These services include general adult outpatient clinics and specialized centers for bipolar disorder, peripartum depression, OCD, early-onset psychosis, college-aged patients, clozapine, long-acting injectables, children and adolescents, adolescent eating disorders, and geriatric patients. Additionally, ZHH provides partial hospitalization programs and a full spectrum of psychiatric rehabilitation services. Programs addressing alcohol and chemical dependency are available both on our main campus and at various community-based locations. Recently, ZHH has launched a Treatment-Resistant Depression (TRD) and Interventional Psychiatry center, offering ketamine and transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), and operates the second largest ECT program in the United States.
