3rd Shift - Plastic Injection Molding - Supervisor / Process Technician
Loves Park, IL | Full-Time | 3rd Shift: 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM

This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who understands injection molding from both sides of production: leading operators and keeping molding processes running.

You will oversee the 3rd shift Production Operators while supporting machine setups, mold and material changes, process adjustments, troubleshooting, quality, and production priorities.

This is not a general manufacturing supervisor position. Injection molding setup or processing experience is required.

• LEAD 3rd shift Production Operators and coordinate daily production assignments
• SET UP & START injection molding machines for scheduled production
• PERFORM mold, material and color changes
• SET & MONITOR temperatures, pressures, speeds, cooling times and other process parameters
• TROUBLESHOOT molding defects, process problems and production interruptions
• ADJUST processes to maintain part quality, cycle time and consistent production
• TRAIN & COACH operators on production requirements, quality, safety and work procedures
• MONITOR production output, scrap, downtime and machine performance
• RESPOND to quality concerns and work with Quality to contain and correct issues
• COORDINATE with Maintenance when equipment or mold problems require repair
• ASSIGN employees to machines and production areas based on production needs
• TRACK attendance, performance and shift documentation
• COMMUNICATE production status, problems and priorities during shift handoffs
• KEEP the production floor safe, organized and moving

Injection Molding Experience We're Looking For

Required:

• Previous injection molding setup or processing experience
• Experience performing machine setups and mold changes
• Strong understanding of injection molding processes and machine operation
• Ability to troubleshoot common molding defects and make process adjustments
• Understanding of process parameters including temperature, pressure, injection speed, cooling time and cycle time
• Experience working with plastic resins, material changes and production changeovers
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability
• Ability to train, direct and support Production Operators
• Strong communication, organization and problem-solving skills
• High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred:

• Previous supervisory, lead or team-lead experience
• Hydraulic and electric injection molding machine experience
• Robots and automation
• Hot runner systems and mold-temperature controllers
• Dryers, loaders, chillers and other auxiliary equipment
• Lean Manufacturing / 5S
• Experience monitoring scrap, downtime, cycle time and production efficiency

The Right Fit

We're looking for someone who can take ownership of the shift .

You should be comfortable moving between the production floor, the machines and your team—setting priorities, solving process problems, coaching operators and keeping production on schedule.

Our Production Operators work alongside multiple injection molding machines, monitoring cycles, inspecting parts, assembling and packaging product, and reporting production or quality concerns. As their supervisor, you'll need the production knowledge to train them, recognize problems and provide clear direction.

Schedule

3rd Shift: 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM

Full-Time | 40 Hours/Week

Overtime may be available based on production needs.
