A well-established closed-door mail order pharmacy in Gaithersburg, MD, is seeking a licensed Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) to join their team part-time, working 16 hours per week (7 AM–3 PM, 2 days weekly). This ongoing opportunity spans 13+ weeks and offers a chance to contribute to a strong team environment with six skilled technicians and experienced pharmacists.

Location: Gaithersburg, MD (with work onsite)

Responsibilities:

• Oversee daily pharmacy operations as the Pharmacist in Charge within a long-term care pharmacy setting, ensuring full compliance with state and federal regulations.
• Supervise pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, managing workflow to maintain efficiency and accuracy in medication dispensing.
• Review, verify, and approve prescriptions and medication orders, guaranteeing safe and appropriate therapy for long-term care patients.
• Maintain quality assurance programs including controlled substance compliance, policy implementation, and thorough documentation standards.
• Collaborate proactively with facility staff, healthcare providers, and nursing teams to optimize patient care and support timely medication delivery.
• Provide assistance in clean room activities and sterile compounding operations where experienced and comfortable, particularly in IV/compounding environments.

Qualifications:

• Active Maryland Pharmacist License (required).
• Preferred additional active licenses in AL, AR, CA, LA, NE, OK, OR, TX (not mandatory to start).
• Minimum 2 years of recent long-term care or mail order pharmacy experience.
• At least 2 years of pharmacy management experience preferred.
• Sterile compounding experience considered a plus, but not required.
