Registered Nurse - Full Time

Position Overview Department 4 SURGICAL – 206034. Worker Sub Type Regular. Work Shift First Shift (United States of America). Pay Grade 135. Responsibilities The registered professional nurse is responsible for performing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, evaluation, documentation, and time management. Responsibilities also include quality communication, teamwork and leadership/professionalism, directing, coordinating, and implementing patient teaching, quality/safety initiatives, and activities of other health team personnel while maintaining nursing standards. A Registered Nurse I (RN I) is responsible for the care of the population assigned, completing yearly mandatory competencies, any unit‑specific competencies identified by the Director/Designee, and completing Professional Practice Ladder requirements (e.g., assuming responsibility as Charge Nurse, participating in PI Activity and department initiatives, and communicating with Director/Designee and co‑workers). The RN I maintains an annual portfolio, solicits patient/family satisfaction, participates in peer review, and develops educational materials for staff, patients, and families. Qualifications & Competencies Education: Associate of Nursing (RN Diploma, ASN, or ADN) required; Bachelors Nursing (BSN) preferred. Certification & Licensure: Registered Nurse (RN) license required. Must be licensed or eligible to practice pending licensure in Virginia (Multi‑state license under the Nurse Licensure Compact or Single‑state license valid in Virginia only). BLS Certification (Basic Life Support) – American Heart Association (AHA) approved required. New hires must possess AHA certification prior to orientation. Relevant Specialty Certification preferred. Virginia Board of Nursing Eligibility to Test Letter (or interim verification) required for candidates with Virginia or non‑compact state residency.
