About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Neuro Stepdown & EMU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience License: Required Certifications: BLS and NIHSS required; ACLS preferred Must-Have: Strong Neuro experience, NIHSS certification in hand at the time of submission, history of caring for stroke patients, familiarity with titratable drips, and overall experience in Neuroscience. Description: This unit specializes in higher acuity neuroscience patients. Nurses manage patients with conditions such as EVDs, strokes, seizures, and craniotomies. The nurse-to-patient ratio for stepdown is 1:3 and for the floor is 1:5-6. Charge nurses are available 24/7 to provide support. Nurse aides are present with a ratio of 1 aide for every 8-9 patients. Respiratory therapy is available 24/7 for managing floor vents, which nurses are not required to handle. Telemetry is available on the unit; however, nurses are not required to read strips. Nurses are expected to work weekends every other week and holidays as per the rotation schedule. Travelers should be flexible with scheduling, including the possibility of floating to other units. The dress code for the unit is royal blue scrubs.
