Job Description

Ready to make a real difference? As a Float Registered Nurse, you'll be the go-to leader who brings quality, compassionate patient care to life across our facility. You'll rock the nursing process—assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation—while coordinating care, delegating like a pro, and keeping everyone (patients, families, and the healthcare team) in the loop. Love solving puzzles? You'll tackle variances from patient goals head-on and champion solutions that actually work.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead the charge in delivering compassionate, high-quality patient care across multiple units
• Master the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care with precision and heart
• Delegate and supervise care effectively while maintaining stellar documentation and patient teaching
• Be the communication MVP—keeping patients, families, and the healthcare team connected and informed
• Identify and troubleshoot variances from patient goals, then drive solutions that stick
• Adapt seamlessly to different units and patient populations as a valued member of our float pool

SCHEDULE : As needed, Contingent, 12 Hour Shifts

LOCATION : Henry Ford Warren Hospital

Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• BSN preferred. 
• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing. 
• Clinical knowledge and analytical abilities necessary to formulate effective nursing care plans. 
• Ability to perform a wide variety of professional nursing services. Ability to effectively communicate with patients, families, and hospital personnel.

CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE REQUIRED:

• Current licensure by the Michigan State Board of Nursing.
• Health care provider certification (BCLS).

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

• Two years of recent, relevant clinical nursing experience, along with demonstrated proficiency and strong performance in clinical practice, is preferred.

Instead, they “float” or rotate to different units based on the facility’s needs and staffing requirements. Float pool nurses are versatile and can adapt to various patient care settings, including medical-surgical units, critical care, or any other specialty within the hospital. Their responsibilities typically include providing direct patient care, administering medications, monitoring patients’ conditions, and assisting with treatments and procedures. Float pool nurses need to be flexible, quick learners, and able to work effectively in different healthcare environments, as they may encounter diverse patient populations and conditions during their shifts.
