Staff Editor
$100k - $150kKeystone
Keystone is a premier economics, technology, and strategy consulting firm built to help companies lead through transformation. As breakthrough innovations reshape industries, redefine competition and change our society, complex and highly competitive ecosystems emerge. Keystone advises technology leaders, Fortune 100 companies, their legal counsel, and governments on business, economic, litigation, and regulatory strategy in relation to these innovations and competitive ecosystems. We operate globally from offices in New York City, Boston, San Francisco, Seattle, London, Dubai, and Washington, D.C. About The Staff Editor Role Keystone seeks a seasoned writer and journalistic thinker with social media chops to kick-start a storytelling initiative - one that will amplify Keystone's work and impact, as well as the stories behind it, to clients and the public. The staff editor's job is to get inside the world of Keystone as if it were a journalistic embed: To understand what the company does, the types of cases it works on (often, these are related to AI, antitrust, or other complex business issues), who its key players are (the company works with a variety of world-renowned experts, including economists and policy thinkers) and to see storytelling opportunities at every turn. That might mean interviewing a Harvard economist who testified in a world-changing antitrust case in the morning, sitting in on a podcast recording with a happiness psychologist in the afternoon (and coming up with a social strategy for the episode), and accompanying the CEO to a benefit dinner at night, then writing a LinkedIn post about it. It might mean offering guidance on short-form video or occasionally producing that video yourself. The goal is to produce a regular weekly cadence of original, short-form editorial and social media content that showcases what's happening inside Keystone, to amplify the company's vast network of experts, and to highlight industry trends. The content will live on some combination of Keystone's primary outlets: LinkedIn, its newsletters, its website and soon-to-launch podcast. What You’ll Bring A self-starter with a reporter's instinct who can hit the ground running. We seek someone who is curious, quick on their feet, and excited about searching for story opportunities, no matter how small. Comfort with ambiguity and an entrepreneurial mindset. This is the start of an exciting new storytelling initiative, and one where you will often be the only editorial thinker in the room- we're in search of someone who will be proactive, ask questions, take initiative, is comfortable pushing back, and can ultimately be autonomous in the role. Must have impeccable writing skills, including the ability to translate highly technical and dense concepts into readable copy that’s both accurate and enticing. Be highly organized and able to manage and track multiple moving pieces at once, including maintaining editorial calendars, communicating analytics, and keeping executives consistently informed of progress (weekly updates, quarterly reviews, etc). Be well-versed in LinkedIn and social media best practices, in order to create compelling and engaging social copy. Have a startup mentality and be willing to be something of a jane-of-all-trades. Writing is the primary role, but you should be comfortable snapping photos; filming off-the-cuff video; and coming up with snappy marketing copy. Be proficient in AI tools that can help with the job, ie: Setting up weekly trend reports on AI and antitrust; tracking systems for analytics and staying up to date on industry news. Interpersonal skills. Part of your job is to talk to people and to get to know who does what at Keystone, and to find out what is happening in a place where people are not used to having a journalist around. Be nosy. Be aggressive. But also, be nice. This person will work closely with the CEO of the company, Jeff Marowits, on a variety of things: from occasional ghostwriting to providing briefing documents and suggested questions for on-air interviews he may be conducting. The ideal candidate will bring 5-10 years of writing experience. Key Responsibilities Running Keystone's LinkedIn account Running the company LinkedIn account, including writing posts, concepting visuals, scheduling posts with regular cadence and monitoring engagement. Adhering to optimal posting times, hashtags, visual guidance, etc. Maintaining a robust weekly editorial calendar content Setting up analytics systems to track progress Developing and producing three monthly newsletters Currently, Keystone has one monthly newsletter in production: KeystoneNext, targeted at alumni. Your job will be to take over this newsletter, as well as develop two complementary newsletters - one targeted at experts and another at clients. You should be comfortable writing the copy but also working in the CMS to build these newsletters, including pulling imagery, requesting quote graphics from our designers, etc, and then translating these newsletters into social media posts. General editorial and production duties These will vary week over week, but they may involve refining website copy; prepping briefing documents and interview questions for the CEO if he's moderating a panel; ghostwriting op-eds, or providing feedback on video and podcast content. Managing the "News" section of the website, including making sure articles are up to date, have appropriate teaser art, and writing enticing headlines. Getting inside, and staying inside, the CEO's head. This is a full-time contract position, with the possibility of converting to full time, based in Keystone's New York office in Soho. Some travel required. Salary range commensurate with experience. In addition to annual salary, we provide an annual discretionary bonus, 401k contribution, and competitive benefits package. Actual Compensation within the range will depend upon the level the individual is hired into based on their skills, experience, and qualifications. Annual Salary Range $100,000-$150,000 USD At Keystone we believe diversity matters. At every level of our firm, we seek to advance and promote diversity, foster an inclusive culture, and ensure our colleagues have a deep sense of respect and belonging. If you are interested in growing your career with colleagues from varied backgrounds and cultures, consider Keystone. #J-18808-Ljbffr Keystone
