Assistant Nurse Manager Location: Warrensville Heights, South Pointe Hospital – Observation Unit (South Pointe) Schedule: Nights 7:00pm‑7:30am, weekends, and holidays as required. Job Summary Assist the Nurse Manager in supervising staff and coordinating the observation unit, ensuring high-quality patient care and efficient operations. Responsibilities Manage day‑to‑day operations of the observation unit. Oversee nursing personnel and other patient‑care providers to maintain quality of care. Anticipate and resolve patient‑care issues. Facilitate communication and collaboration among unit staff and other departments. Review major operational patient‑care issues with the Nurse Manager. Conduct clinical evaluations of nurses and other staff on the unit. Counsel employees on performance issues and administer corrective actions. Participate in interviewing, selecting, and appraising employees. Monitor adherence to EEO/AAP goals and guidelines. Administer Nursing Institute, departmental, and CC policies and procedures. Monitor daily clinical operations of outpatient clinics (patient flow, staffing, supplies). Prepare work‑assignment schedules to ensure adequate coverage. Support quality‑improvement projects, outcomes studies, and research initiatives. Assist with orientation, continuing education, and in‑service education programs. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) from an accredited program. Current RN licensure in the state of practice. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. At least two years of clinical experience. Strong clinical knowledge and skills. Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills. Strong analytical and organizational skills. Preferred Qualifications Bedside experience. Epic electronic medical record experience. Recent inpatient experience. Physical Requirements Requires full range of body motion, handling and lifting patients, 20–50lb occasional force, 10–25lb frequent force, eye‑hand coordination, standing and walking extended periods, corrected vision and hearing, working under stressful conditions and irregular hours, exposure to communicable diseases or body fluids; medium work‑exertion; physical demands exceed light work.
