Food Pantry Assistant

Maine Township is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and energetic individual to join our team as a Part‑Time Food Pantry Assistant . This position plays a vital role in helping provide food and personal care items to residents in need while supporting daily pantry operations. Position Details Job Title: Food Pantry Assistant Status: Part-Time (up to 19 hours per week) Hourly Position, 4‑3 hour shifts Monday to Friday Reports to: Food Pantry Director Pay Range: $19–$22 per hour Benefits: PTO Responsibilities Assist with distributing food and personal care items to pantry clients. Provide friendly and respectful service to community members, volunteers, donors, and staff. Pick up food and other donations from local businesses, organizations, and community partners. Load, unload, sort, and organize food donations and pantry supplies. Stock shelves and maintain inventory throughout the pantry. Receive and process incoming donations. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized pantry environment. Enter and maintain basic client and inventory information using Microsoft Office programs. Follow all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures. Assist with food drives, special events, and other pantry-related projects as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Valid Illinois driver's license and reliable transportation. Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and treating all clients with dignity and respect. Physical Requirements Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds on a regular basis. Ability to stand for extended periods. Ability to bend, reach, stoop, and perform physical tasks throughout the workday. Ability to safely load and unload food and donations. Computer Skills Microsoft Office – Excel, Word, Outlook Desired Attributes Dependable and punctual. Friendly, positive, and professional demeanor. Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
