Overview

Vasko Electric is a well-established commercial electrical contractor serving Northern California and Nevada for more than 43 years. We work across a broad range of markets, including commercial, industrial, healthcare, education, data/technology, and public works, delivering projects through design-build, design-assist, and plan-spec delivery methods.

We are seeking an Electrical Estimator who can prepare accurate, complete estimates—from reviewing bid documents and performing takeoffs to developing pricing and assembling proposals. This position works closely with our estimating, project management, purchasing, and field teams, with support and guidance available for complex scopes and project requirements.

Responsibilities & Duties

• Prepare electrical construction estimates, including quantity takeoffs, material pricing, labor calculations, equipment costs, and subcontractor pricing.
• Review drawings, specifications, addenda, and bid documents to identify project scope, requirements, and potential gaps or conflicts.
• Develop clear bid proposals and scope letters outlining inclusions, exclusions, assumptions, and clarifications.
• Request, track, and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotes to confirm pricing and scope coverage.
• Organize and complete assigned estimates within established bid deadlines.
• Participate in internal estimate reviews and incorporate feedback before final submission.
• Coordinate bid-day activities for assigned projects, including final pricing updates and proposal preparation.
• Identify potential cost savings and alternate materials or installation methods in coordination with the estimating and project teams.
• Maintain organized estimating files, pricing backups, and documentation for awarded and non-awarded projects.
• Participate in post-bid reviews and project turnovers, clearly communicating estimated scope, costs, and assumptions to project management.
• Partner with project management and purchasing to support project budget development and material buyouts by project phase.
• Work collaboratively with estimating, project management, purchasing, and field teams to address scope questions and incorporate field input into estimates.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of electrical construction estimating experience preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to prepare a complete electrical estimate and proposal from start to finish.
• Working knowledge of commercial electrical systems, construction methods, materials, and labor requirements.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and bid documents.
• Proficiency with electrical estimating software, Microsoft Excel, and digital takeoff tools.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established estimating processes.
• Ability to manage multiple assigned bids, prioritize work, and meet deadlines.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear proposals and scope letters.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with the team and seeking input when needed.
• Willingness to accept feedback and continue developing estimating knowledge and skills.
