Special Education Paraprofessional

Date Posted: 12/4/2025 Location: Warford Elementary School Qualifications A minimum of sixty college hours from an accredited college or university is required; passing the Paraprofessional test in the State of Missouri or the Missouri 20‑hour Online Substitute Training Program is required; sixty college hours is preferred. A valid Missouri Teaching Certificate is preferred. Possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and physical attributes necessary to perform the essential functions of the position. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate or acceptable. An Associate's Degree, or 60 college credit hours, or successful completion of the Pearson Education Paraprofessional Assessment. Twenty‑one (21) years of age. Be able to read and write. Have the ability to understand, and effectively carry out oral and written instructions. Demonstrate an interest in youth and their educational welfare. Ability and desire to assist the teacher in providing an educational opportunity for the handicapped child to attain his/her maximum potential. Experience in working with children in a group setting. Ability to work well with the learning community, parents, teachers, students, administrators and staff with courtesy, tact, and good judgment along with having good customer service skills. Be of good character, neat in personal appearance, dependable, reliable, prompt, and flexible, and have pleasing manners and personality. Ability to cooperate with teachers and willingness to take directions from teaching staff. Ability to stay uninvolved unless directed by the teacher, even if a situation is perceived differently than the teacher sees it.
