Job Description

• This role offers an opportunity for an experienced waterproofer or general construction worker to develop a career in the glazing trade. You will assist journeyman glaziers with the fabrication, installation, and glazing of storefront and curtain wall systems, as well as heavy glass partitions, mirrors, and perimeter caulking joints. The position combines hands-on field work, mechanical installation, and general labor tasks, and is ideal for someone who wants to work hard, learn new skills, and grow within a specialized construction trade.

Responsibilities

• Assist journeyman-level glaziers with the fabrication, installation, and glazing of storefront and curtain wall systems.
• Support the layout and installation of heavy glass partitions in commercial environments.
• Assist with the layout and installation of mirrors, ensuring accurate measurements and secure placement.
• Perform installation of perimeter caulking joints and waterproofing tasks to ensure proper sealing.
• Use a tape measure accurately for layout, cutting, and installation activities.
• Perform general laborer duties such as material handling, site cleanup, and assisting with set-up and tear-down of work areas.
• Operate hand and power tools safely and effectively during fabrication and installation tasks.
• Perform mechanical installation of hardware and related components as directed by journeyman glaziers.
• Lift, carry, and move materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds as needed on the job site.
• Work productively on commercial construction sites while following safety procedures and site rules.
• Collaborate with team members, follow instructions from supervisors, and maintain a strong work ethic and willingness to learn.

Essential Skills

• 1–2 years of general construction experience.
• Experience with sealing and caulking in a construction environment.
• Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately.
• Hands-on experience with hand tools and power tools.
• Familiarity with commercial job site environments, including basic safety and work practices.
• Ability to perform mechanical installation of hardware and related components.
• Capability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks.
• Strong work ethic and willingness to work hard and learn new skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Interest in learning the glazing trade and advancing into a specialized construction career.
• Experience assisting with installation of glass, storefront, or curtain wall systems is a plus.
• Prior exposure to waterproofing and perimeter caulking on commercial projects.
• Comfort working in a field-based, construction setting with changing tasks and priorities.
• Ability to follow detailed instructions from journeyman glaziers and supervisors.

Work Environment

• This position is based on commercial-level construction projects in the field, working primarily on first shift. You will work outdoors and indoors on active construction sites, assisting with glass, storefront, and curtain wall installations. The role involves regular use of hand and power tools, handling construction materials, and performing tasks that require standing, bending, and lifting up to 50 pounds. You will operate within typical commercial job site conditions, following safety protocols and site-specific requirements, and wearing appropriate construction attire and protective equipment as required by the job and site rules.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Marcos, CA.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
