Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a dedicated 54-bed Neuro Medical-Surgical unit serving patients with diagnoses including stroke, spine surgery, seizure, brain tumor, head injury, and general neuroscience conditions
• Maintain nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:5–6 on night shift, delivering safe and effective care within established protocols
• Titrate drips including heparin based on PTT values and manage other titratable or set-rate infusions as required
• Monitor patients using house-wide Phillips telemetry system; RNs are not required to read their own telemetry strips
• Float in rotation with unit staff to general medical-surgical floors as needed, performing only skills within competency when assigned outside the primary unit
• Adhere to unit dress code standards including covering tattoos while on duty and limiting piercings to ears only

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
• Current BLS certification
• Current NIHSS certification
• Prior experience working on a dedicated neuroscience or neuro medical-surgical unit
• Level 1 trauma experience required
• Previous travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers will not be considered

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience managing heparin drip titration based on PTT protocols
• Familiarity with high-flow oxygen therapy for stable respiratory patients
• Comfort working in a large acute care environment with house-wide telemetry and 24/7 charge nurse and house supervisor support
