The position reports to the Associate Dean for Finance and Operations of SCiLL and is highly visible, interacting with Senior Associate Deans, Assistant Deans, faculty, staff, and other administrative offices within SCiLL, the College of Arts and Sciences, and the University Office of Human Resources. This role serves as a liaison with the College of Arts and Sciences Business Office, University Compliance Office (UCO), and International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) in all areas of human resource management within the school. It requires handling matters discreetly and professionally, working efficiently, effectively, and with a high level of accuracy on a high volume of transactions. Responsibilities Administer all SHRA, EHRA, and EHRA Non-Faculty permanent and temporary hires, funding swaps, Annual Raise Process (ARP), reappointments, end of appointments, and all paid and unpaid leave of absences. Manage benefits, recruitments, appointment promotion and tenure (APT) and post-tenure review processes for faculty positions. Process HR related tasks for TA/RA/GA graduate student hires, temporary/intermittent student assistant hires, career banding, time management system (TIM), leave, and benefits. Provide support for complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues related to personnel performance, disciplinary, or other employee relations matters. Assist in coordinating the talent acquisition process, including recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of qualified applicants, and collaborate with leaders and faculty to understand required skills and competencies. Communicate regularly with department positions to coordinate payroll efforts for faculty, staff and postdoc positions to secure funding, timelines and paperwork needed to recruit, hire, and separate employees. Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations; recommend best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law. Use tools such as ConnectCarolina, PeopleAdmin, LawLogix I-9 system, and InfoPorte to implement actions, answer inquiries, and proactively address potential HR payroll issues. Minimum Education And Experience Requirements Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. Management Preferences Demonstrated human resources experience. HR professional certifications (PHR/SPHR, SHRM-CP/SCP, etc.) preferred. Knowledge of PeopleSoft and Rapid Admin Service Request System (RASR). Experience in the higher education setting to include a thorough knowledge of UNC Policies and Procedures for both SHRA and EHRA positions. Experience handling the management and submission of visas (H1B, J1, etc.).
