Medical Assistant

About the Role As a Medical Assistant II, you’ll be an important part of a collaborative care team supporting medical providers and patients throughout their treatment journey. You’ll provide hands‑on clinical support while also helping create a welcoming, comfortable experience for patients. This role is ideal for someone who is compassionate, personable, and comfortable working with patients from diverse backgrounds, including individuals receiving care for substance use disorders. Your ability to make patients feel comfortable and supported — especially during blood draws and other clinical procedures — will be an important part of the role. Responsibilities Prepare patients for examinations by obtaining medical histories and vital signs. Perform phlebotomy, urine drug screenings, and CLIA-waived laboratory testing. Administer injections under provider direction and appropriate training. Assist with prescription management and medication counts. Support patient outreach, including appointment reminders, re-engagement, and follow‑up. Maintain accurate patient documentation and records within the EMR. Manage laboratory and PPE supplies to ensure the clinic is properly stocked. Collaborate with medical providers, front desk staff, and laboratory teams to maintain efficient daily workflow. Follow patient safety, confidentiality, infection control, and other clinical protocols. Help create a warm, welcoming, and nonjudgmental environment for every patient. Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent. Completion of a Medical Assistant, Phlebotomy, EMT, or LPN program. At least 1 year of Medical Assistant experience. At least 1 year of hands‑on phlebotomy experience. Willingness to train on injections if additional training is needed. Experience working in behavioral health, healthcare, or billing is a plus. Comfortable using EMR systems and Microsoft Office. BLS certification or ability to obtain certification within 90 days. Strong communication skills and a warm, empathetic approach to patient care. Comfortable working with patients who have substance use disorders. Required Skills Compassionate and personable demeanor. Ability to work with diverse patient backgrounds. Preferred Skills Experience in behavioral health, healthcare, or billing. Familiarity with EMR systems. Pay range and compensation package Competitive pay of $22–$24/hour. Contract‑to‑hire opportunity with potential conversion after approximately 3.5–4 months.
