Make your mark in Underwriting, Environmental Casualty Responsibilities Underwrites Environmental Casualty Products under general supervision, issuing quotes and policies while ensuring standards and compliance guidelines are met. Analyzes information and connects with clients and brokers. Evaluates, prioritizes and selects submissions to be underwritten. Identifies risk exposures, special or common hazards, claims experience and appropriate controls. Analyzes claims and quantifies losses. Adheres to guidelines and underwriting discipline to minimize exposure and appropriately price risks. Ensures underwriting files and service standards and compliance guidelines are adhered to on assigned accounts. Offers coverage, terms and conditions which generate a profit for the Company while meeting the needs of the customer. Captures market intelligence and broker feedback on accounts. Develops technical expertise with product(s) in the Financial Lines portfolio. Demonstrates strong business acumen, financial and analytical skills, and critical thinking for confident decision making and judgment. Demonstrates success in negotiation and building collaborative relationships. Manages multiple tasks with prioritization and time management, balancing changing priorities based on underwriting needs and time constraints with a high volume of work. Works with more senior underwriters or management on risks exceeding authority level or requiring special handling. Sells and negotiates to achieve bottom line profitability for the Company. Makes presentations and communicates risk appetite and Financial Lines value proposition to brokers and clients. Contributes to development of producer strategies. Develops and maintains a submission pipeline to achieve production and business mix objectives. Provides superior customer service to brokers and clients (internal & external). What you'll need to succeed 1+ years of relevant professional experience; Insurance experience preferred. Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university. Working knowledge of financial statements and analysis. Excellent interpersonal, communication and analytical skills. Excellent organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks in a high-volume, fast-paced environment. Ability to work in a dynamic, rapidly changing environment, adapting to changing requirements and collaborating with a wide range of colleagues to quickly deliver solutions. Ability to facilitate cross-function collaboration, especially regarding technical aspects. Detail-oriented with demonstrated ability to self-direct, prioritize work, and meet deadlines. Takes initiative on projects and assignments, seeks alternate solutions when necessary. Highly motivated and results-oriented. Exposure to NA Casualty products is preferred (e.g., Environmental, Excess or Primary Casualty, NA Auto, WC, AL, GL, DBA, Foreign Casualty). Compensation and benefits For positions based in San Francisco, California, the base salary range is $68,000 - $80,000 and the position is eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan.
