About the Position

Job Title: RN - Labor and Delivery Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years of current acute care hospital Labor and Delivery RN experience License: Active RN license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, EFM-C or AWHONN preferred Description: Travel RN position in Labor and Delivery. The unit has a total of 26 beds. Staff includes 112 personnel with a mix of nurses, surgical technicians, and unit clerks. Day shift staffing consists of 1 Team Leader, 14 nurses, 2-3 surgical technicians, and 2 unit clerks. Night shift staffing consists of 1 Team Leader, 12 nurses, 2 surgical technicians, and 1 unit clerk. Patient ratios are 1:1 for high-risk labor and c-sections, 1:2 for antepartum and those on medication, and 1:3 for postpartum without infants. Equipment utilized includes Alaris pumps, PCA pumps, telemetry monitoring devices, and CPN monitors. The electronic medical record system is Meditech/CPN. Candidates must have a minimum of 1 year of current acute care hospital labor and delivery RN experience. Preferred qualifications include experience with circulating c-sections and high-risk labor and delivery settings. Typical procedures performed include c-sections and inductions, AROM, IUPC, DFM, and Doppler assessments. The ideal candidate is compassionate, caring, friendly, patient, and solution-oriented. A team nursing approach is adopted, where nurses support and assist one another. There is a strong leadership team that is supportive and can step in to assist as needed. The unit has many tenured nurses with extensive experience. Self-scheduling is available, contributing to staff satisfaction. A new OB hospitalist initiative provides additional support to nursing staff and improves resident training.
