This role is part of Blue National Security (BNS) where our focus is the design development and delivery of launch and spacecraft systems for national security missions. Through Blue Ring our all-in-one high-powered hybrid solar-electric and chemical-propelled spacecraft we provide unmatched mission maneuverability versatility and capacity at dramatically lower-profile costs.

Job Description Summary

Applies broad multi-disciplinary engineering (mechanical and electrical/electronic) knowledge skills and methods as well as computer/software systems to design and engineer the overall systems infrastructure including engineering implementation and integration and technical services and support. Designs implements installs maintains and administers infrastructures including hardware software and various configurations. Monitors overall performance to proactively identify potential issues and tune them appropriately. Performs root cause analysis on failed components and implements corrective measures. Works with others to establish and improve processes and procedures.

Job Description

As part of a hardworking team of engineers supporting Blue National Security you will own significant scopes of vertically integrating test capabilities and conducting spacecraft test campaign efforts for various space vehicles. This includes coordinating with external suppliers developing new in-house test capabilities installing test instrumentation developing environmental spacecraft level test campaigns and executing tests on flight a fast-paced dynamic environment you will architect the environmental test program develop test plans and coordinate test procedures and script development. You will lead elements of environmental test execution during vehicle integration all the way through final testing in preparation for launch.

You will contribute to optimally completing major test campaigns including planning writing test plans and procedures developing test equipment and compiling test reports.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Assist in the planning architecture and coordination of the resources vital to execute the testing of integrated spacecraft for development and verification successfully.
• Coordinate with design engineer subject matter experts across each affected system under test to integrate the identified system verification requirements into the detailed test plan for the development risk reduction and/or verification run for record event as appropriate.
• Conduct test design reviews integration readiness reviews and test readiness reviews for your events.
• Identify communicate and mitigate cost schedule and technical risks.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Proven track record of working with test flight and safety-critical hardware tools and shop equipment.
• Previous experience with spacecraft/satellite environmental test development and/or execution hardware ownership (responsible engineer) or hardware qualification and/or acceptance testing.
• B.S. in Aerospace Electrical Mechanical Physics Systems Engineering or related technical subject area.
• Direct experience developing test infrastructure integrating the test articles and testing major assembly spacecraft test articles with an emphasis on mechanical systems.
• Hands-on testing experience in thermal vibration and/or acoustic shock and vacuum testing of flight hardware in accordance with MIL-STD-810 SMC-S-016 and MIL-STD-1540.
• Excellent verbal written and graphical communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced dynamic work environment.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings standards and technical requirements.
• Ability to perform data analysis and reduction and present technical information in a clear and compelling visual format.
• Instrumentation controls and data acquisition systems experience
• Strong safety demeanor and experience including hands-on experience planning and conducting hazardous or critical operations.
• Ability to earn trust and maintain positive and professional relationships.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Hands-on test and production facility factory or laboratory experience.
• Experience developing test campaigns for Acoustic testing Thermal Vacuum Testing Electro-Magnetics Interference Testing and Modal Testing
• Experience installing removable/permanent test instrumentation on spaceflight hardware
• Experience with requirements development/management tools; DOORS DOORS Next Gen and lifecycle management (PLM) and/or data Windchill.
• Experience with 3D modeling tools analytical tools and/or scripting tools: CREO MATLAB LabVIEW Python C
• Hands-on experience developing and maintaining test scripts
• Ability to obtain a Department of Defense TS/SCI security clearance if requested
