Position Overview
MVHS is seeking experienced Critical Care Registered Nurses (RNs) for a 13-week travel assignment supporting the Critical Care Float Pool.
This is a true float position. Nurses must be comfortable floating throughout the hospital, including ICU, IMCU, and ED holds. Nurses may also be assigned to Medical-Surgical units with patient assignments of approximately 6–7 patients.
Key Responsibilities
Provide safe and comprehensive nursing care to critically ill and medically complex patients.
Float between designated hospital units based on patient and staffing needs.
Care for patients with a wide range of diagnoses, including:
Stroke and neurological conditions
Sepsis
Altered mental status (AMS)
Respiratory failure
Congestive heart failure (CHF)
Post-STEMI patients
Cardiogenic shock
Cardiothoracic surgery patients
Abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA)
Trauma
Major postoperative conditions
Monitor patients and recognize changes in clinical condition.
Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
Safely manage critical-care equipment and therapies within scope of practice.
Maintain accurate documentation using Epic.
Adapt quickly to different units, patient populations, and workflows.
Critical Care Experience
Candidates must have 2+ years of ICU experience and be comfortable caring for high-acuity patients.
The Critical Care Float Pool may involve exposure to advanced equipment and therapies including:
Intra-aortic Balloon Pump (IABP)
Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT)
Ventriculostomy
Intracranial Pressure (ICP) monitoring
Targeted Temperature Management (TTM)
The critical care float pool has approximately 42 beds.
Requirements
Minimum 2 years of ICU experience.
Previous travel nursing experience required.
Active New York RN license at the time of submission.
BLS certification.
ACLS certification.
NIH certification.
Epic experience.
Willingness and ability to float throughout the hospital.
Must be willing to float to ICU, IMCU, and ED holds.
Must be willing to float to Medical-Surgical units and manage assignments of approximately 6–7 patients.
Assignment Details
Night Shift: 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM
36 hours per week.
No on-call requirement.
Floating is an essential part of the position.
Block scheduling is not guaranteed.
Local and travel candidates may be considered. (75 Miles radius rule)
Requested time off (RTO) must be provided at the time of submission.

The Critical Care Float Pool supports patients requiring a broad range of critical and acute-care services, including neurological, cardiovascular, respiratory, surgical, trauma, and postoperative care.
