Requirements

Education & Experience

• Associate Degree in Nursing (A.S.) or equivalent —  Required
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) —  Preferred
• Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience —  Required

Licenses & Certifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice —  Required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved vendor per facility policy —  Required
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from an approved vendor per facility policy —  Required
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification from an approved vendor per facility policy —  Required
• Intermediate Fetal Monitoring Course —  Required
• AHA-ACLS or ARC-ALS —  Required
• AHA-NRP or ARC-NALS —  Required

Job Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients and families during:
  • Antepartum period
  • Intrapartum/labor period
  • Postpartum period
  • Perinatal emergencies
• Circulate during Cesarean sections (C-sections).
• Plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care.
• Supervise and delegate care responsibilities to ancillary personnel within their scope of practice.
• Collaborate with physicians and the multidisciplinary healthcare team to achieve patient care goals.
• Assess patients' physical and psychosocial needs while considering: Age, Cultural differences, Emotional and family support needs, Fetal demise and bereavement support
• Demonstrate sound clinical judgment when managing perinatal emergencies, including:, Crash C-sections, Precipitous deliveries, Shoulder dystocia
• Assess and monitor fetal and maternal well-being throughout labor and delivery.
• Assess amniotic fluid status and vaginal bleeding.
• Recognize and appropriately manage maternal and fetal abnormalities.
