Medical Lab Scientist

A temporary opportunity is available for a Medical Lab Scientist to join a dynamic laboratory team. The role involves working in a fast-paced environment, contributing to patient care through essential testing and laboratory operations.

Schedule

This position follows a schedule of 7 nights on followed by 7 nights off, with working hours from 9:00 PM to 7:30 AM.

Assignment Length

The initial assignment is for 13 weeks, with the potential to extend to 26 weeks if desired.

Unit Information

• Number of Treatment Rooms: 10
• Number of Laboratory Staff: 8 Lab Technologists
• Staffing: 1 MLS/MLT on Day Shift, 1 MLS/MLT on Night Shift
• Type of Equipment: Siemens Dimension EXL, Sysmex 1000, Roche Clineteck, Werfen Top 300, Quidel Triage, Siemens ePOC, Abbott iSTAT, Veritor FLU, Quidel SOFIA COVID-19, Aerospray stainer
• EMR: EPIC
• Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend

Key Responsibilities

• Perform daily maintenance, quality control, and calibrations on laboratory analyzers.
• Conduct both waived and non-waived patient testing.
• Process specimens, including ordering tests, centrifuging samples, and preparing send outs for transport.
• Ensure laboratory supplies are adequately stocked and maintain routine cleaning of lab surfaces.
• Fulfill clerical duties as assigned to support laboratory operations.

Qualifications

• Required: Certified MLS or MLT through ASCP or equivalent.
• Experience: Minimum of 2 years working in a hospital laboratory setting as an MLT or MLS.
• Preferred: Familiarity with EPIC and experience with lab analyzers.

Dress Code

Staff are expected to wear pewter-colored scrubs. A lab coat will be provided.
