Payroll Specialist

Responsibilities Process weekly, bi-weekly, semi-monthly, or monthly payroll accurately and on schedule. Review and verify employee time records, attendance, overtime, bonuses, commissions, and other payroll-related data. Calculate wages, deductions, garnishments, taxes, and benefit contributions. Ensure payroll processing complies with federal, state, and local wage and tax laws. Process new hires, employee status changes, terminations, direct deposit updates, and payroll adjustments. Prepare and reconcile payroll reports, payroll registers, and general ledger entries. Assist with payroll tax filings and year-end activities, including W-2 preparation and distribution. Respond to employee inquiries regarding pay, deductions, taxes, and payroll policies. Maintain confidential payroll records and employee information. Support payroll audits by preparing documentation and responding to auditor requests. Collaborate with Human Resources, Finance, and Benefits teams to ensure payroll accuracy. Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes and implement best practices. Assist with payroll system testing, upgrades, and implementations as needed. Required Qualifications sAssociate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field preferred .2–5 years of payroll processing experience .Experience with multi-state payrol lKnowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations and wage laws .Experience processing multi-state payroll is preferred .Proficiency with payroll software such as ADP, Workday, UKG, Paychex, Oracle, SAP, or Ceridian Dayforce #J-18808-Ljbffr
