Position Overview Personal Financial Counselor; PFC-Fort Polk, LA. Grade 24. The role involves providing personal financial services at assigned military installations, counseling service members and families, managing spending plans, and delivering financial education. Responsibilities Provide one‑on‑one financial counseling services to service members and families. Consult with commanders, other providers, or staff as appropriate. Conduct briefings and presentations on financial topics. Provide referral resources to participants outside counseling sessions. Assist service members in establishing spending plans for extended absences. Develop and distribute informational financial materials. Coordinate, publicize, and deliver personal financial management classes/workshops across the military lifecycle. Respond to requests for age‑appropriate classes or seminars. Utilize virtual counseling or other electronic communication modes (web‑based, secure online chat, video, etc.) when authorized. Manage duty‑to‑warn situations per DoD protocol. Communicate with leadership and participate in supervision to share trends and issues. Participate in in‑services/training, quality improvement committees, or other contract activities as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree required (associate degree + 4 years experience or high school diploma + 6 years experience may be considered). 3+ years of financial counseling experience. U.S. citizen, fluent in English (bilingual English & Spanish if required by contract). Adjudicated Tier2 security clearance. Passes Congressionally Mandated Disclosures for Organizational Conflicts of Interest (OCI) process. Certified as an Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC). Benefits & Compensation Salary range: $58,440 – $93,500 (base). Pay will vary based on skills, experience, education, and other job‑related factors.
